Spend some of the money on SENIORS!!!
WHAT ABOUT ME. I am an $800.00 a month lady on SS. I haven't seen much to help the elderly, many of us are at POVERTY AND BELOW !!!!!
Not all of Americans are parents and children.
~~~~> I may have another 20 years to live and i'll be DAMMED if I live the rest of my life, living under a bridge and eating government cheese !!!!!
(9,645 posts)I assume that is where I will end up if i live long enough. The great news is the buildings are fine and seniors can get loads of services coordinated.
Where do you live?
Doesnt everyone have subsidized housing for the elderly?
(9,645 posts)We have a wait list for the nicest buildings but more like 6 months
There are old buildings that can be gotten into quickly
Over 50 years ago my grandma lived with us while waiting for an apartment to open up
There was still a stigma attached back then and my folks werent sure about her moving there, until they saw it
My mom came home from seeing it and said,it will be the first time in her life ( my gma) she has had new paint,carpet and appliances! And all at the same time!
We pay a little more in state income taxes but feeling confident our seniors have housing makes it worth it
Btw i am not saying its perfect here or that no one falls through the cracks, just saying it seems better than a lot of places i read about here on du
i'm not rly crying, cuz i have other money. but i'd be super pissed if i rly needed it.
(12,462 posts)And the elderly need financial help. People on SSI live on around 800 bucks too..
Please Biden help us.
The elderly and disabled aren't a sexy constituancy politically,
But all need help. Maybe raise the SS for the elders and SSI for the disabled.
Raise it to a decent amount to live on and get rid of the chained cpi.
Make our SS ,SSDI and SSI payments rise with actual cost of living, in the coming days.
Chained cpi is cruelty made into policy and keeps us poor and desperate.
And do not let HUD, public housing raise the rent . Don't
reduce food stamp payments .
Because when that happens in effect have no real gain in income.
It just looks that way on paper and I am sick of that unjust shell game.
Give us enough money to eat well ,pay our bills and rent and get meds,have some leftover to spend and have a little financial cushion for rainy days. Is that too much to ask?
Help the Elderly and those single childless adults on SSI.
Don't forget about us!
About govt. cheese My father being military got government cheese from the px. Omg that cheese was delicious.
Put velveeta to shame.
(1,327 posts)I need meds that aren't covered by insurance. Parents with kids aren't the only ones who need help in this country. I have yet to hear of ANYTHING Biden is doing to help disabled people so far.
