Jill Biden's Presidential Address Outfit Has More Than One Special Meaning

The First Lady arrived to Joe Biden's presidential address in a dress that spoke volumes.

Snip
Since coming into the position of first lady 100 days ago, Dr. Jill Biden has proven that she likes to send messages through her outfits. So For Joe Biden's first presidential address to Congress, she opted for a dress with several special meanings.

On Wednesday night, she stepped into the building wearing a blue dress by Gabriela Hearst. The sleeves were sheer and featured 50 embroidered flowers, representing the United States of America. On her mask, there was a coordinating floral embroidery.

If the dress looks familiar, it's because she wore a white version by the same designer for the Inauguration party. (It's totally possible that it's a dyed version of the exact one).

1. Wow. Great dress. I hope we find out if it is another version or if her inauguration dress was dyed.

I don't think they would dye the embroidered part, so they would have had to take the dress apart first.
Would like to know what they did.

i'm not saying they did. but use a wax or other dye resist, and you could do it.

any resist must leave when it's work is done.
used in everything from pottery to circuit boards.

but see- batik, for just one fabric process like that.
uses beeswax followed by dye, then the wax is heated/cleaned out.

5. Amazing. So the dress doesn't have to be taken apart to be dyed.

Thanks for the info.

I would think that perhaps her Inauguration party dress might have to go the Smithsonian anyway.
So perhaps a new dress had to be made.
But if she likes to recycle her outfits, maybe she kept it.

8. The First Lady probably does not want microchips in her delicate designer embroidery.

I love the first outfit.
Jill would look adorable in it. And she can carry it off.

16. I like it better in the black then in white. The black is more dramatic, but both are beautiful. 🙂

How lucky we are to have her as our first lady! What an improvement over the last...whatever that thing was.
