I knew why they attacked him so relentlessly all those years.

Because he was just like this, and they are terrified.

like this but in the '90s liberal was a dirty word. Clinton won by running to the right and even then without Ross Perot in 92, Clinton likely would have lost. Consider this, Sen. Joe Biden got the violence against women's act passed and managed to shore up Social Security during a very conservative era. Until Clinton, we had lost the presidency for 12 years...Biden was always like this which is why I hoped he would be president someday. I told people during the primary, if you look at my posts, that Biden was perceived as moderate and would attract moderate voters but he was not a moderate.

Yes, I remember Clinton running to the right.

And, oh, yes - I was in the ?Sheraton Hotel in NYC as part of NYC's Dems Election Watch because I'd been part of the decorating team 🥰 and we were allowed to stay!

As the tension and excitement grew...with each State's count ... then finally..... !!!!! Victory!
My knees started feel a bit weak with relief!

I remember moaning and groaning last year about how I actually supported him for president in 1988 and 2008, but that he wasn't the same man, that he maybe had the grit, but simply lacked the pluck to do the job.

But I was an idiot. I fooled myself with optics. He's old, but he's popular, and he's getting the job done. I still think this "end of the Reagan era" chatter is a little overblown. our majorities are very narrow and I'd still put good money on Republicans taking over Congress next year.

But Joe Biden is exactly where he needs to be and is doing exactly what we need to have him do.
