Senator Rick Scott of Florida was just allowed to lie his way through an interview with Anthony Mason on CBS This Morning. Scott repeatedly claimed President Biden has not said how he plans to pay for the trillion dollar infrastructure plan. That is just not true. President Biden has repeatedly stated that the plan will be paid for by raising taxes on Americans making more than $400,00 a year and making American corporations pay taxes. In fact, President Biden detailed how he would pay for the infrastructure plan in his speech last night. The only correction regarding taxes came when Mason corrected Scott by pointing out President Biden only plans to raise taxes on less than 1% of the United States population. That came after Scott tried to claim President Biden was going to raise taxes on everyone. However, Mason never mentioned that Biden did have a plan to pay for the infrastructure plan and was not telling the American people he was giving them free money.
Scott went on to get away with the talking point (Biden gave money to prisoners) Tim Cotton tried to use earlier this year. Tim Cotton was forced to admit that he voted for a stimulus bill that contained a similar provision during Donald Trump's time in office. Scott should have at least been asked if he voted for the stimulus bill that was passed during Trump's time in office, which contained a similar provision to the one he was complaining about. Scott was not asked why he and other Republican did not express concerns about debt and deficit spending when Donald Trump was in office. He also was not forced to address the fact that many economic forecasts are predicting strong economic growth under President Biden. There were so many other things that were not addressed.
I wish Mason would have slowed things down and forced Scott to answer questions. Mason mainly allowed Scott to just drone on and on mentioning multiple Republican talking points.
