I’ll be updating the Georgia Group post as the evening proceeds. ATL Mayor Bottoms just spoke! Waiting on Senator Ossoff and Senator Reverend Warnock! President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are scheduled for 6pm EST.

Any DUers here? I’m near the Atlanta Seafood Company food truck.

Edit: Our Senators did not speak. Instead they were seated on the stage behind The President and First Lady. At the end of his speech, after he thanked all who spoke and attended, President Biden introduced our Senators and they joined the Bidens for the final moments of the rally.

The imagery of our President and First Lady with the first Black and first Jewish Senators from Georgia was so powerful, positive and energizing!

We’ve heard from Hank Johnson, Congresswoman Lucy McBath, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, and Congresswoman Nikemah Williams so far. Congresswoman Carolyn Bordeaux is speaking now at 4:41.

It’s 4:44 now and it’s a beautiful day here in Duluth, GA! Slightly overcast and breezy is the best weather for spending all day in or directly next to your car! Thank goodness it’s only 82 F, which is just warm for Georgia. I came prepared with lots of water and snacks plus a bag lunch.

I got here about 10:45 this morning.

After going through two initial checkpoints, my car was thoroughly searched by secret service agents and sniffed by their K9 dogs. I was also screened and my bags searched by the agents.

The crowd is excited and looking forward to hearing from ATL Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Leader Stacey Abrams, and our Senators before the POTUS & FLOTUS take the stage!

them together. I was just a teen when he was leading the movement here in GA, but I remember the power of his voice, his words, and his charisma. He was/is a masterful presence.

It was a really good day.

Thankfully, I was able to take a day off from work, my partner stayed home with our child, and I had reliable transportation to make the one hour drive into Gwinnett County from my city.

I feel lucky.

President Biden paused and listened, then responded that he was going to work on closing private prisons. He joked that he only had been in office 100 days and he needed at least 5 more days to work on the issue!

As I live in Victoria BC, I think it unlikely the President et al will ever get closer than Seattle, and I can't remember a sitting President ever visit there, even. Not that it couldn't have happened, but it escaped my attention, if it did.

I'm happy you were so pleased and excited. It's fantastic to see how inspired people in general are by JRB, but especially here on DU.

I wonder how many people that STRONGLY supported other candidates in the primaries have been enthusiastically "converted" by this fine President.
