Broadcast and cable news ratings, along with website traffic, are all taking a hit in the post-Trump era. During President Bidens first 100 days in office, weekly full-day cable ratings for CNN and MSNBC have been trending down, according to statistics from ratings company Nielsen.
On average, 1.3 million household viewers were watching MSNBC in the last week of January, shortly after Biden took office. For the week ending April 25, that number was 868,000. At CNN, those figures went from 1.2 million to 749,000. Network evening news isnt faring any better. Ratings leader World News Tonight at ABC had 1.8 million fewer viewers in the seven days ending April 25 compared to the last week of January. NBCs Nightly News, in the No. 2 slot, lost 1.7 million viewers in that same period, while CBS is down 1.2 million.
Traffic is also down for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the Los Angeles Times, Reuters, the Boston Globe, Vice, Vox and BuzzFeed. Some of those sites had more traffic in March than in February, but all are down since the start of the year.
Media experts like Scott Robson, a research analyst with S&P Global Market Intelligence who studies cable news said the recent decline might suggest that
people are relieved they dont have to check the news every night to see what the latest crisis is.

We aren't worrying nearly as much as we were for 4 years and when we do it isn't because of the President.

(3,748 posts)It was obscene and thoroughly exhausting the amount of gaslighting we had to endure. Pretty sure the whole country was going to go completely mental had the former one won again. I am extremely thankful for this period of peace and normalcy.

(3,748 posts)at any moment, we were going to see it collapse. It was awful. One of the things I am reveling in right now is knowing that there is a semblance of law and order and that appropriate people have been put back into place to ensure that democracy lives another day. But it still worries me to see so much of the force that is working hard to try and push authoritarianism in our country. It's very much alive and a threat. We still have much work to do, but this little reprieve is much needed and much appreciated that's for sure.

It is one drama after another and another and it never ends.
Trump and his personality disorder have moved out of our House and it is a relief to be able to relax a bit.
