And to millions such that long term, loyal, actually functional members of his group get booed and outed in they don't get in line to kiss his butt and worship at his shrine!? To the point, that 46% of them believe a brazen provable lie! That's repeated so much that 30% of people that don't support believe it too!

(3,191 posts)Occasionally though I catch a glimpse of those people you mention and I just say "Holy shit are these fuckers for real?" I say it every time because they are something else. It is terrifying.

(130,237 posts)There is absolutely nothing about him that's positive, or attractive, or decent in any way. He's physically unattractive; even as a young man before he went to seed completely he looked squishy and oily, and now he's a fat, greasy orange mess with a mouth that looks like an asshole and hair the color of urine - yet some demented women think he's hot. Morally and ethically, he's utterly foul, driven by nothing but his ego and his urges. Though he possesses a level of criminal cunning he's not smart or cultured. He's vulgar, crude, bullying and malicious. I can't think of anything positive about him at all.
Even the previous presidents I disliked intensely had a few redeeming qualities: Nixon was smart; Reagan could be charming; Bush #1 was gracious; Bush #2 liked dogs. Dolt 45 was never even any of those things. But millions of people voted for him, and many of them still worship him. I will never understand this.

(63,221 posts)I agree with you that he does not have one single redeeming quality.
However, AFAIC, there are currently no words in the English language to adequately describe the extent of his horribleness. He is the most vile creature on the face of the earth in my opinion.

(6,063 posts)Though much of Barnum's fame arose from hoaxes he perpetrated and exploited-- he cynically manipulated the public, and the public loved him for it-- many understood even then that they were being fooled-- but wanted to be. Why? He brought a sense of excitement to their boring everyday lives.
Trump goes further, he not only brings constant "excitement" through his Twitter feed and the news, from being continually outrageous, telling big lies, but he also makes his followers seem more important to themselves-- that comes at the cost of having created an "in-group" and an "out-group"-- why Trump is the Great Divider.

(18,272 posts)65% of all Republicans don't believe that Trump lost the election:
Almost two-thirds of Republicans believe that President Joe Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 election, even as more than six-in-ten Americans overall believe he won fair and square, according to a new Monmouth University poll.
The survey, conducted February 25 March 1, found that 65 percent of Republicans believe that Bidens win was solely the result of voter fraud. Whats more, 29 percent of Republicans say they will never accept Biden as president.
The belief in widespread fraud among Republicans persists despite a multitude of probes, intelligence assessments and court rulings that have found no evidence that either domestic fraud nor foreign interference affected the election results. But former President Donald Trump spent months spreading baseless allegations of widespread fraud nonetheless.

(18,272 posts)I did, however, hear one of Trump's senior officers (I think it was Mick Mulvaney) refer to Trump as "the President." That is NOT correct.
