developing his land in California, even though it couldn't be developed, I've been thinking.
Is it possible that he tried that ruse on Scotland in order to get the government to allow him to destroy the environmentally sacred dunes for Turnberry? IOW, he bought the land, found out that the dunes were protected (until that time) and thereby, he couldn't build his excessive golf course -- and then went to Scotland and told them "You owe me a big chunk of money for not developing this land that I bought," and Scotland just didn't have the money, so they changed the protection of the dunes. And by changing the protection of the dunes, a multitude of residents who had lived on their lands for decades, had their homes captured by eminent domain or forced sale. Those who stayed had Trump threaten their existence by having their water supply cut off, among other deeds.
