CA Gov? Caitlyn Jenner in for a World of Hurt

saw this via the Guardian. She actually said this shit, pandering to her reThugs here, in "a parking lot in Malibu" of all places.

I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school...it just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports...

I'm trans. This bitch has no idea what's coming.

As Mr. T would say, "Pity the fool!"

on a trans woman to make your point and "honor her gender" is bullshit.

This is the same argument white people use when they want to use the N word. "Well, they say it...."

Bastard maligns women, too.

Fuckwit is gender neutral, and doesn't target children who have no control over the timing of their conception related to their parents' marriage. Why, when I was born, just being a bastard meant social workers felt entitled to give you to older, more affluent, married parents despite what was in the best interests of the child.

We used to think that testosterone suppression would lead to parity.

It doesn't.
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40279-020-01389-3
https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/early/2021/02/28/bjsports-2020-103106

Of course, in HS athletics - many athletes simply self-id (take no opposite sex hormones, just come out as the opposite gender by self-id).

So, there's that.

with respect to strength sports. so would a boy who had his testosterone suppressed pre puberty, still show an advantage? that seems to be the direction the article was leading... that greater muscle mass in males starts very early and is somewhat permanent.

a few years ago and women were calling in saying, but Phelps and his big feet.....

and the endocrinologist was trying to explain (very patiently) that trans-women - even with suppressed testosterone (which can be 3x higher - still - than most women) - the effects were huge.

Here's another study:
https://law.duke.edu/sports/sex-sport/comparative-athletic-performance/

“An extensive review of fitness data from over 85,000 Australian children aged 9–17 years old showed that, compared with 9-year-old females, 9-year-old males were faster over short sprints (9.8%) and 1 mile (16.6%), could jump 9.5% further from a standing start (a test of explosive power), could complete 33% more push-ups in 30 s and had 13.8% stronger grip. Male advantage of a similar magnitude was detected in a study of Greek children, where, compared with 6-year-old females, 6-year-old males completed 16.6% more shuttle runs in a given time and could jump 9.7% further from a standing position. In terms of aerobic capacity, 6- to 7-year-old males have been shown to have a higher absolute and relative (to body mass.”: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40279-020-01389-3

Sun May 2, 2021, 07:19 PM

a 17 year old has gone through puberty. A 9 year old has not.

Again, the notion that wee need to pass discriminatory laws in WV, for example, which has less than two dozen trans kids, not all of whom are trying out for track, is absurd.

The laws don't care about trans-boys, just trans girls. It's fear based bullshit. There are middle school girls who are bigger, stronger, and faster than the boys. Lots of middle school girls tower over the boys their same age, and can't wait for the boys to catch up.

It's a whole lot of noise to ban a handful of children from competing because other people fear them.

These are Olympic Decathletes transitioning in middle age like Jenner. These are kids targeted for hateful laws. Sports is the camel's nose in the tent. Arkansas, I think, wants to make gender affirming treatment illegal--we couldn't have the ACA because it was government take over and the government would get between you and your doctor, but it's OK for anti-science religious bigots to get between a doctor and a patient, and a parent and a child.

The GOP wants an unfettered market until the market disagrees with them. They want small government but only small enough to look inside women and transwomen's pants. There's no economic or diplomatic principles with them, just imposition of their narrow minded viewpoint and bronze age sky god mythology.

We should follow the science. The science isn't where you think it is, though.

Sun May 2, 2021, 07:50 PM

Because I was a better athlete than my older brother, and there weren't many girls teams.

We're still playing catch up. But there are girls and women who wrestle, girls play boys baseball and soccer, and there's ever a female place kicker on one of the D1 college teams.

Girls have never had a fair shake with athletics--opportunity, or having to fight stereotypes. Hell, the town I grew up in holds a rival high school spring and fall golf tournament, ten year on now, and still won't open it up to the girls.

I play golf. I'm not great, but play to a 12. A lot of men, even at my home course, do not like to play with me. They'd let me join them, but anymore, they're happiest to let me play through.

Not all men, but many men want zero women in sports at all (except ice skating and gymnastics and tennis and girl sports like v-ball and field hockey) or they'll dismiss all women in sports as lesbian. The same assholes pretending to "Protect women's sports" rail against Title IX taking money form men's sports.

It's always ben a man's world, but it's expanding over my lifetime. Just as Obama's presidency brought the racists out of the woodwork, Harris the female VP one heartbeat away has ratcheted up the misogyny, too. Although the GOP had been storing that up for Hilary since the end of Bill's term.

I'm curious if the studies account for socialization that encourages boys to run and jump and climb and play rough while girls are encouraged not to.

They don't, unless it is political wedge in their favor.
Abortion
Gays
Guns
God

These issues will never seriously be resolved as long as they are necessary tools needed to divide come election time.

Every election these same issues are rolled out because that is what the GOP has relied on for decades.

We need absolute majorities in every Federal branch & State if these societal issues are ever to be finally cast to the dustbin of American history.

And that takes unity, and Democrats do not have it yet. The times we did have such power, progress was made, only to be undone when voters let there guard down.

It's eff'd up.

I was wondering if I should put a disclaimer or emoji there. Not quite sarcasm. republicans don’t want trans girls or women competing as girls or women in sporting events. They don’t want trans women using women’s bathrooms. I can’t imagine they be happy with trans women running for office. Unless it’s liberal trans women, and then they want them running do they can mock them and treat them with contempt.

As in pretty much everything republicans will be on the wrong side of history in LGBTQ issues.

But the skeevy old men who think a man would pretend to be a woman and lurk int he ladies rooms to prey on children aren't too concerned about trans men, the onles who would be in the men's room.

They can't tell the difference, and these fearful old white men are terrified they'll see a transwoman and be attracted to them, or "tricked." They're afraid of reacting to a woman and discovering, as though it's their business, the hot woman used to be a man.

That's it.

It's sturm und drang over the last group it's still socially acceptable to hate on. They lost on segregation, they lost on ostracizing single mothers, they lost on marriage equality. Trans and gender binary folks are the new frontier for them.
