Decayed Corpse of Cult Leader Found in Colorado HQDENVERSeveral members of a bizarre spiritual group called Love Has Won have been taken into custody after the badly decaying body of the groups leader was found in its headquarters.
Amy Carlson, 45, whose followers call her Mother God, was found dead in a mobile home in Casada Park, west of Crestone. Saguache County Sheriffs deputies and Colorado Bureau of Investigation detectives found the self-proclaimed divine being of the group after a tip-off from a member who told them her body had been transported to Colorado from across the country.
The death and its connection to Love Has Wonwhich law enforcement and ex-members have previously called a cultwere first reported by Be Scofield.
While being interviewed by law enforcement, the group would not use the word deceased, when referring to Carlsons death, according to a source familiar with the case. They claimed Carlson was not dead, but was merely out of communication.

Not even counting the chemicals he ingests - from fast food and various kinds of suspected drug use.

(9,128 posts)...the MAJORITY of people are not easy to brainwash. That is a scary thought. I would concede that people can be swayed to think/feel one way or another about any number of things (myself included) but I just don't get the phenomenon where people devote themselves completely to someone who is obviously so flawed and/or corrupt.

Love Has Won Cult Kicked Off Kauai After Fleeing Crestone

Love Has Won cult leader Amy Carlson, who claims to be Jesus, was kicked off of Kauai after locals protested her cult for three days. Carlson yelled Im Pele at the locals and her members claimed the protestors were practicing voodoo and witchcraft. Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami spoke to the cult leaders and addressed the protestors.

After several days of protesting, Kauai residents were able to force out a bizarre cult called Love Has Won. The group recently moved to a beach vacation rental in Wainiha after fleeing from Crestone, Colorado when they were exposed by the Guru Magazine. About 15 members had flown to Kauai and were in various phases of the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Maui 24/7 reported that the two cult leaders flew to Maui Sunday evening but Maui Mayor Mike Victorino told them they were not welcome and offered them flights to San Francisco which they accepted. The Garden Island reported that the remaining 15 cult members received a police escort from the Kauai Inn to the airport.

Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami visited with leaders from the cult on Saturday. Speaking to a crowd of people gathered in front of the cults vacation rental, he said he told the leaders theyd face the same type of resistance anywhere on the island. He also said he offered the group assistance to leave the island. I do not want them to move from this neighborhood to another neighborhood, he told the group.

It's how they maintain control.
This was one of the worst.
I'm glad their god on earth died and rotted on schedule. I just wonder what the autopsy is going to show. Maybe it will wake a few of them up---after they've slept in for a few weeks and have gotten their equilibrium back. I'm just glad they didn't join her. Yet.

(22,590 posts)Some things about this cult rang a bell with me, so I googled:
"On September 14th and 15th the Dr. Phil Show season premiere was about the Love Has Won cult. Based on the original reporting of The Guru Magazine founder Be Scofield the show featured leader Amy Carlson and her mother and sisters. Cult expert Rick Ross also appeared. The episode happened after Scofield reached out to the Dr. Phil show and worked with the producer."
If you have the time and inclination, you can watch the whole thing here: https://www.lovehaswonexposed.com/dr-phil-love-has-won
The website https://www.lovehaswonexposed.com/ has lots more info as well.
EDITED TO ADDThe above Dr, Phil episode is from 2020 (I think). Amy and some of her followers are interviewed remotely and appear on screen. If you want to know what kind of a person she was and/or what kind of followers a person like this is able to attract, you may find this informative.
