AxiosWhy it matters: The comments by Reps. Steve Scalise, the minority whip, and Jim Banks, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, carry weight because of their close relationship with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who is openly feuding with Cheney.
Banks (R-Ind.), leader of the largest conservative caucus in the House, told Axios Friday that Cheney's continued criticisms are "an unwelcome distraction," and he questioned whether she would retain her leadership role in a month.
Banks' comments were echoed more diplomatically by Scalise (R-La.), the No. 2 Republican in the House.

(34,747 posts)Ol' Dick is still around, and he isn't going to take kindly to the way his daughter is being treated. He also knows where all the GOP bodies are buried. I don't think this is going to end well for McCarthy and his toadies. One can only hope. If Cheney destroys these assholes, it would be the first time in his miserable life that he ever did the right thing for his country.

On edit: Scalise is most definitely a number 2 Republican if you know what I mean.

(11,098 posts)If she ran for senate, for instance, as a democrat, how would she do?

(11,098 posts)That she also maybe, possibly, at least in a blue moon in the most perfect scenario, just might not lose as a blue dog Democrat.

(20,661 posts)This is, in fact, how the Democrats should respond, whenever they're asked about specific House or Senate members that openly supported the MAGA army, and voted against the certification of election results.
