I mean, I didn't get it from anywhere else, I did think it up.

But after a little search engine looking, I clearly wasn't the only one to do so.


On edit: My earliest usage on DU that turned up in a search was in 2013, about the House GOP throwing gobbets of red meat to their cultists-before-it-was-Trumps's-cult voters by trying to defund ACORN, which had disbanded in 2010 due to fraudulent videos from now-familiar sources:

FOX and other RW media built ACORN up into a boogeyman, managed to destroy it with a bogus scandal, and have been playing the "it's not dead yet" drum ever since (because the people at the local level who did its work didn't just dry up and blow away).

The vote is a way to grandstand for the True Believers whereas most people won't even know about it, or care if they did.
