(38,824 posts)If KS permits laws or constitutional amendments on the ballot, expect to see it on the November 2022 ballot - used to drive right wing jerks to the polls who, while they are there, will vote for Republican candidates (even if they wouldn't otherwise have bothered to go to the polls).
And - based on this thread - it is pretty clear that it will work just as well in 2022 as same gender marriage did in 2004. Democratic candidates won't be able to oppose it for fear of losing votes of Democrats who have fallen for this tried and true Republican trick.

(38,824 posts)I've just had my life used as a sledgehammer to defeat Dems in the past, and I see it happening again.
You're right about the timing - if their goal was the general election. But it is perfect timing for the midterms.

(29,885 posts)This is exactly the sort of bill that would have sailed through the legislature a scant few years ago.

(35,176 posts)I am proud to say I was one of the founders of that group. Hard work but we put together a solid group since 2005. Hard to do in a state like Kansas with everyone so spread out but it comes and goes in numbers. Our Lobbyist and Executive Director has done hard hard work for a lot of years now and he has made a huge impact.

Thank you, I did a lot at first and for several years later but now I just cheerlead.
