Dont like the move...for one, he has lost his last two statewide races and will lose again, and second he is in a district where it is pretty even so it would be best for Democrats if he tried for reelection

(3,411 posts)Thats my opinion. We are going to need someone tough as nails to go against DeSantis.

(7,396 posts)anything. Unless he really steps in it somehow he is going to be tough to beat. Demings could be formidable, but I haven't heard what her plans are. Might be Senate.
Crist?....meh, I don't think he would move the meter much anymore.

(49,376 posts)When the primary dust clears, Democrats will have a rock solid candidate/challenger to go against Gov. Death Sentence.

(4,167 posts)If a two term governor and a daughter of a long time senator/governor need help in raising their profiles then they are a weak general election candidates.

(914 posts)Jolly was the last representative before Crist from his district and Jolly had to take on both Crist and the Republicans.
I like your thoughts of him trying to hold that down. He has actually gained a respect in the area outside of the right wing extremists we have. The last person he ran against was truly a right wing extremist. Had Republicans run a Jolly, who knows.
I still don't think we will win a state wide race until we get better organized. We are hurting in Fl.

(4,167 posts)Its sucks that a state can grow an extra district, but still somehow get rid of a Congressman...If thats the case, then I understand his reasoning for wanting to run for governor....still going dont think he can win though
Edit - he could have been Senator Crist right now and running for re-election if he decided to become a Democrat instead of an independent in the 2010 race vs Rubio

(914 posts)That is what their intent was under the current district lines.

(5,007 posts)Desantis and even consider re-electing him again tells you all you need to know. He is basically a younger version of Trump and it seems like a majority approves. SMH. We almost moved there when my husband retired from the military. So happy that we changed our mind.
