Former Pennsylvania GOP Sen. Rick Santorum in an interview on Monday walked back widely-criticized comments he made last month about Native American culture in the United States.
"We birthed a nation from nothing," Santorum said on April 23. "I mean, there was nothing here. I mean, yes, we have Native Americans but candidly there isn't much Native American culture in American culture."
CNN host Chris Cuomo gave Santorum the floor to explain himself during a segment of "Cuomo Prime Time."
"This seemed like you were trying to erase diversity in the interest of some white Christian right," Cuomo told Santorum.

Maybe slick rick can get together with George Allen...sorry mom..
There is NO mistake, misspoke, wasn't thinking clearly, or, missed that history lesson IN 8TH GRADE..nope - as I said to CNN he needs to do a history lesson for couple hours on CNN About our Native American Indian community..broadcast it ...with an apology...

(4,394 posts)So few today understand what is required of personal accountability in an authentic apology. Santorum gets no forgiveness of what was still verbalized racism and white elitism; the insulting disrespectful conclusions about POC and systemic transgenerational trauma inflicted and inherent with racism as well as other forms of judgments/discriminations continue unabated... in ignorant media, governmental laws and policy, and all too common plain as day disrespect of things we could all learn from and celebrate!
