It takes moral courage to buck your party's orthodoxy. The life of an apostate is not easy.

I don't have to like her to respect her courage in the face of the threats coming at her.
Encouraged him to publicly state his support of her and to say in no uncertain terms the election was not stolen.
Not sure what kind of response I will get. My impression of him leans towards a spineless blob.

(114,673 posts)the scenes to deliver a few hundred (metaphorical) "shivs" to Trumpists going after Liz.
My nearly unlimited disdain for Dick, notwithstanding....

(11,794 posts)The shivs are already being sharpened, I'd wager. The assassins have likley already been paid lol.
As rick wilson likes to say, 'fuck around and find out'.
I THINK Kevin and his crew of fools have no idea how much they're about to bleed if they actually go through with this.

(6,168 posts)There's nothing wrong with those who disagree with us. We can debate our differences and those with the most support win. But to refuse to go along with the big lie her party is pushing, is admirable. At least she has the conviction to support the obvious truth.

Its all so shameful.

(131,217 posts)The rest of the GQP should be careful not to fuck with her - she is probably every bit as ruthless. We shouldn't be singing her praises either.

(7,964 posts)It may be her fealty to democracy and a moral compass of some sort that prompts her stances. But there may be personal reasons as well. She spent most of her youth in the D.C. area, went to college in Colorado and then the University of Chicago. She then spent most of her professional life in D.C. She really is NOT a Wyoming type, so being a rep from that state full of rednecks is probably not something she is enjoying all that much.
Unlike most of the repub goofballs in the House, she would have no trouble getting a highly-paid position in Washington if she left or was voted out, i.e. she doesn't have all that much to lose but will burnish her image with these stances. And she could run for prez or move to a repub-leaning district or state back east.

(14,075 posts)They aren't clean. They helped create the orange monster and his pack of sycophantic hyenas. If anything Liz Cheney is atoning, and that's good. But Dick Cheney continues to be my synonym for dogshit. And Dubya? Same vicinity.

(254 posts)would stand up to Trump. Now someone is. Im glad shes doing it.
I have no illusions about her changing her stances on issues where her father proved to be extremely dangerous. Shes very much like him. But on this one topic, I applaud what shes doing.
