I mean it's getting to the point where it's a shot in the dark, even letting < 16-yr-olds watch...the sexual themes are nefarious, at least.
I'd bet Richard Dawson's dust, is swirling at this moment.

(15,667 posts)During the Ray Combs (remember him??) era......it's not Richard Dawson who would be rototilling but Mr. Goodson (Mark Goodson) who always liked to do things with class, but when he died his idiot son sold the company to Sony and it has been through many versions since then.
According to company lore it was Mr. Goodson's secretary Diane Janaver who originally thought of the idea for Family Feud, I hope she was well compensated because tons of money has been generated by that idea!
THAT's the name I've been trying to remember, thanks! Didn't he have a bunch of kids and sang a song called Baby Rap, or am I losing my mind?

(15,667 posts)If I remember right he had 6 kids...or 7? He was Mormon, saddest story. He worked at a furniture showroom and did standup at night (yes, baby rap!) they were looking for a new host and he won out over a lot of established peeps (including Gary Collins, RIP!) but it wrecked his life pretty much. He did two shows, a daytime version and a syndicated version, lots of taping, there was some kind of speed/coke or something with him I think, he started getting very anxious. Finally he was rather unceremoniously dumped when they brought Dawson back to finish out the syndicated series, he made some awful investments (Cincinnati comedy club or something,) was completely broke in no time.
His family ended up evicted and he was committed to a psych ward in Glendale, he hung himself in the closet. To show how bad his luck had turned, the bar in the closet was designed to break easily just for this reason, but, it malfunctioned.
His wife ended up marring the family dentist - he had lots of money and took in all the kids!
Anyway he was a nice guy whose brief fame led to tragedy, he would probably still be a happy family man if he was still working at the furniture place in Glendale.

(5,169 posts)Steve Harvey is the only host who can make me (occasionally) watch it.

(26,507 posts)she likes this program. I must say some of the topics they survey and some of the answers given are really edgy. I can see where one wouldn't want their kids to watch. Of all the hosts - Steve Harvey is the best and funniest.

(1,664 posts)"Family Feud" was a great concept for a game show. Like any good game, it easily involves the TV audience (unlike, for instance, $100,000 Pyramid, in which you're simply watching contestants compete).
There's nothing inherently offensive about "edgy" material, but I believe that when a show has to resort to such things to maintain ratings, it's an indication that it's becoming irrelevant. Questions like "We asked 100 men what household chores would you like to see your wife do in the nude?" are rather stupid. Surveys based on real life items (e.g. "Name someone you're nervous talking to," "What is the most stressful holiday?", and the like) actually make for better gameplay.

(36,925 posts)Or you can show people getting their brains bashed in, but dog forbid you even show a glimpse of a female areola because the moral decay from that would be completely irreversable.

(692 posts)can get away with...you can practically see everything in the sex scenes anyway, who cares about the tit poppin out? And, like you said, the violence. I love NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds, but sometimes even that gets to be too much for me. I'm not a prude, but sometimes gratuitous violence on TV just goes beyond the pale, at least IMHO.

Did you lose your remote? Does your TV only have one channel? Do they play this on a continuous loop where you live?
Because then I MIGHT understand your complaint, but because YOU don't appreciate a little bit of adult humor, doesn't mean that others don't.
Find something that is suitable to your tender tastes and watch it.
If I am going to ask the FCC to do anything, it is going to be taking HATE and LIES off of the airwaves...not to be your nanny censor.
