A day later, I cant stop thinking about this threat from a state senator. Obviously she doesnt actually have the power to imprison anybody, but the idea that the state of Arizona would jail federal officials for trying to enforce federal laws is some antebellum-era stuff

How does one advance to that rank and get elected to public office with no understanding of the U.S. Constitution?

(3,450 posts)Wish I could believe what folks on that side of the aisle say, but...
And it is scary to me that someone can take an oath to The Constitution and then turn their backs on it so completely and easily. I come to expect it from the rank and file rethugs...they have no idea what this country stands for in the first place. Military are supposed to get it.

(3,932 posts)I walked into the middle school office (I was a substitute teacher) and overheard that another substitute teacher was not going to be used again because they had had some misbehaving students and had told them that she would make sure that none of them would ever get into college or get a good job. Of course she didnt have that power but it sure scared the kids.
I dont think that Arizona can put people in the Justice Department in jail for doing their job.
