4 years ago they controlled the White House and Congress. And yet they still acted like victims and were angrier than ever. They had all the power but did nothing with it. And as a result lost it all in 2020.
And now they're obsessed with getting back into power even though they have no agenda except to follow Trump and try to own the libs.
The reason the GOP is never happy even when they win is they don't believe their should be an opposition party especially not the socialist Democrats. If we win an election it can only be because of fraud or illegal voting.
Republicans will never be satisfied living in a country where they can potentially lose power. They want an Autocracy where elections are mere formalities if they're held at all. Like in Putins Russia.
People who hope for a return to a healthy 2 party system are delusional. The Republican Party was never that healthy to begin with and since Obama got elected twice they've passed the point of no return. The fight of our lifetime is to continue to try to block them at every turn from achieving their goal.

(25,250 posts)Republicans are addicted to power. The more they have, the more they want--and they won't rest until either they or the American republic are destroyed. They're losers because they're dead inside: no conscience, no heart, and no soul, which compels them to kill everything around them. Pathetic.

quite nicely. An entire political party motivated by misanthropy and spite.

Many feel the qgop is in the throws of death, not a new beginning...I agree

(26,257 posts)acting like. I particularly thinking of the hundreds of millions of dollars that rump pocketed for his own use, using something akin to fraud to entice millions more from his followers in a scam that allowed recurring withdrawals to occur from the bank accounts of his stupid followers (kind of serves them right too, if you ask me). Even the FEC (Fed. Election Committee) said that these recurring payments was a scam and that this shouldn't be allowed.
I still wonder to this day what in the world republicans went over to Russia and met w/ unsavory characters for some reason...those reason(s) and notes/etc. were NEVER released. These republican traitors were caught by the cameras too. So, they can't claim that the media/us/etc. are mistaken, just like josh 'overbite' hawley is now claiming w/ his clenched fist seemingly to encourage the 1/6/21 insurrectionists.
Traitors all. 14th Amendment them all. No more pussy footing, since they wouldn't give anyone else the benefit of the doubt if and should something negative (in their small minds) happens. RepubliTHUGS will jump through hoops to try and nail innocent victims w/, e.g., the stupid repetitive hearings on Benghaze that they tried numerous times to nail HRC.

(10,777 posts)Traditional Liberals vs. Social Democrats.
It'll take a long, long time to get there though.
And please don't say that the Republicans did nothing when they had all the power. They transformed out tax system in ways that will take decades to unravel. They trashed net neutrality. They wrecked our immigration system. They started - and lost - a trade war. They sabotaged our pandemic response infrastructure just before a pandemic hit.
Let's be fair to them. They did some things.

(998 posts)They did an amazing amount of damage in the 2 short years where they controlled everything and sent the country back by decades.
Meant to say they did nothing positive or new. Passing tax cuts for the wealthy isn't exactly a bold new idea. They've been running the same governing playbook since 1981. 40 years of Reaganomics and culture wars.

(41,634 posts)Every chance they got, they threw the blame on Democrats but it was all deflection.
If Chump had really gotten 4 more years (shudder), there's no way the country could have survived.

But you are right that they should have been happier doing it.
It just speaks to the fact that faux outrage is there fuel. They cant live without it even when they are on top.
