They couldn't find someone to host other than a MAGA Billionaire who fought California's Covid restrictions?
It will probably suck as usual anyways.

(4,238 posts)Watching now, though not a fan of Musk. Honestly, SNL needs a new cast and better writers. This group is tired. Weekend Update is the only segment worth watching since the election.

(11,563 posts)I guess he's a lot greedier and a lot less altruistic than he has tried to portray.

(41,960 posts)In the monologue he said hes the first host with Aspergers, which makes sense.
And I cant believe it but I quite like him. Hes been in every sketch and is very him, odd, but it works.
This is about the show and nothing else so dont give me grief.
Dr. Strange
(25,921 posts)but he has been pretty good in the sketches. (Or skits. )

(9,124 posts)I know a "kat "with Aspergers an he is indeed the most talented man in the world in his field, and more than hard to get along with. once you understand the metrics of that... you take it or leave it for what it is.

(58,785 posts)I thought Maye Musk did a good job as someone nature had played an Elon-Asperger's-genius-off-the-edge trick on but was able to handle it, but also with a suggestion that, like Steven Spielberg's mother, she's a person who could produce him.
His monologue was quite good, but I wasn't surprised that he was likeable in his "odd but it works" way because I've seen him before. We enjoyed the monologue and Covid skit, and then turned it off.

The cold open was quite fun.
... his monologue was excellent given he ain't no actor, and I've seen much worse by people who claim to be one.

(58,785 posts)"A brief history of Elon Musk being a humongous jerk," which in some cases, specially Covid related, is of course an understatement.
The youngish author's argument that SNL still exists because it's important to Boomers (a ruling "gerontocracy" ) doesn't hold up for us. We almost never watch because we typically regret it when we try and agree with the author about its typical mediocrity and that its ability to corrupt people (left or right depending on direction of outrage) is mostly imaginary.
