I think, Trump is not a person to them. He is merely a symbol, a meme, a culture-war issue, an excuse to oppose the liberals on SOMETHING.Conspiracy-theorists don't actually care about their conspiracy-theories. They only care about the CONSEQUENCES. Their conspiracy-theories are merely reverse-engineered excuses to create the alternate reality they want.
e.g. the alternate reality where they are heroes who oppose some big evil conspiracy.
It's the same with "Stop The Steal". It's not about whether or not Trump won. It's about maintaining the republican alternate reality where liberals are evil. Claiming that liberals stole the election is merely a rationale that was made up after-the-fact to justify the alternate reality that liberals are evil.
Republicans hate the Democrats. So, the Republicans NEED to be in opposition to whatever the Democrats say. If the Democrats say that Biden won the election, then the Republicans MUST say it was stolen.
This is not about Trump or Biden. This is about people who have made their life-goal to hate someone or something and who don't actually care who or what it is they hate or why. Without someone or something to hate, their lives become meaningless and they go back to being average nobodies.
As long as they hate, they are somebody. If they stop hating, they turn back into nobodies. So they keep on hating.

(4,845 posts)I've heard or read that they think anything is better than a "liberal". So no matter what Trump did or didn't do, it never mattered to them. Because the alternative would be a "liberal" and that's unacceptable to them.
And the last 5 years is clearly an example of that. It's like whatever position democrats take, they just have to be on the opposite side, no matter how ridiculous their position is. You think it's a good idea to wear a mask to limit transmission, we oppose it cause it invades my rights. But clearly, wearing a mask is just the right thing to do but nope, democrats wanted it so they oppose it.

(36,776 posts)Trump was supposedly the only candidate who could not beat Hillary.
Yet, it was not so much that Trump won.
To the GQP, it was that Hillary lost.

(32,634 posts)... they're being forced to support this "Stop the Steal" nonsense, or they won't get funding from the RNC for their next campaign. That's how vindictive Chump is, and he still controls the purse strings until the Party kicks him out.
When do you think that will happen? Not until the Repuke Party finally gets disgusted with Chump, and suddenly one day he'll be gone.

(65,000 posts)Also, I think it's a "marketing" ploy to continue the need to sell "vote security" legislation.
If they capitulate to the reality that T***p lost big in a fair fight, selling voter changes is way harder.
And, without making it hard to vote, they won't win in the future.

(20,835 posts)not only that Trump won, but that they're the majority. If the base ever clued in that they're a fringe minority cult of personality of a man with no personality with no platform, no policies, and are seen as huge suckers by the rest of us ... the gravy train would be over.

(24,282 posts)We have republicans in Congress in their second or third terms who have never accomplished anything. I bet if you looked at their personal lives and careers before politics you would find more of the same.

(3,406 posts)...is working pretty well.
Even with their stooges out of power (for now), they have paralyzed the democracy. They have a third of the country willing to sacrifice the founding principles of the nation to further their grievances.
