They start evaluating their situation, and if it's terrible, some of them are going to start looking for greener pastures and finding them. For employers who are doing well by screwing over the help, that's just about the worst thing.

If that is the only way capitalism can survive, then I say screw capitalism, we need to work out something else. A system that relies on an under compensated workforce has no reason to exist.

There were examples of feudalism that existed into the 20th Century and are probably still found today, if you know where to look.

But that is no reason to try to take a modern society backwards, which is what some of our less enlightened citizens seem hellbent on doing.
