Who here on DU think that the disruption of pipeline on the east coast has someone else involved?

Like that “former guy”? He has his connections to Russia and I am betting that he will start ranting about the HUGE gasoline shortage that happened under Biden very soon!

Asking for a friend ?

The qgop are struggling to get any criticisms to stick when it comes to Biden. Ppl always blame the president over rising gas prices, so I’m sure they thought it was worth a try

Whether fg is involved directly or not, Putin has a huge investment in getting him back in the driver's seat.

Punishment for Russia is sure to get worse for protecting, fostering, and by benefiting for these extortion attacks. If you notice the perps are trying be apologetic about the affair seemingly Putin realized the overreach and its likely reaction.

They lost plenty of money last year with covid and it would be a way to raise prices and keep them there.

It's a huge loss for the providers involved.

They were ransomed. It happened. We need to open our minds to the new reality of things transpiring. The world is changing before our eyes. What we thought was normal has changed.

We can't just rest on our heels and blame the knee jerk the blah. Shit is actually going to start happening now and we're going to have to learn to be receptive to in the future. Which is changing before our eyes.

but it was weird that DarkSide released a statement yesterday, distancing themselves from the motive, claiming they were just providing a service.

That DarkSide released a statement?

"We are apolitical, we do not participate in geopolitics, do not need to tie us with a defined goverment and look for other our motives.

Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society. From today we introduce moderation and check each company that our partners want to encrypt to avoid social consequences in the future." - DarkSide gang.

Plus, I thought there was some kind of random hacking involved. There are a lot of people out there happy to mess with computerized things any way they can, just for fun.

I've read lots of times that such people frequently target schools, hospitals, and even police departments.

Seriously, how could he be involved? Beyond not slapping Russia down while in office, what else? His policies were weak, but beyond not being strong against such hacks/ransomware how could he have caused this?

Honest question. I don't get this angle. Yes, these types of attacks were a threat, as they have been for years. Yes, his administration turned a blind eye. How is that applicable when a private entity didn't tend their own business?
