Graham warns about trying to 'drive' Trump from GOP: 'Half the people will leave'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday made the argument for keeping former President Trump a main figure in the Republican Party, contending that without him "half the people will leave."

In an appearance on Fox News, host Martha McCallum asked Graham about his previous comments in which he suggested that people fear that if they do not have Trump's support, they will not get elected, according to a video provided by Mediaite.

Graham responded saying Trump is "the most popular Republican in the country."

"He's the most popular Republican in the country by a lot," Graham said. "If you try to drive him out of the Republican Party half the people will leave."

Sounds OK to me.

His claim that Trump is the most popular Republican in the country is demonstrably false. Trump's approval ratings are abysmal, as a few GOPers have noted quite pointedly of late.

He's such a whiney, treasonous piece of shit lying, tRump butt-kisser.

Trump’s popularity falls among Republicans, according to new poll.

After 100 days out of office, Trump's support softens in NBC News poll.

WASHINGTON — Out of office, off of Twitter, still complaining about the election results — the last 100 days or so haven’t been kind to Donald Trump, our new national NBC News poll finds.

His ratings among all adults stands at 32 percent favorable, 55 percent unfavorable, which is down from his rating in January (40 percent favorable, 53 percent unfavorable among registered voters), as well as where he was in the poll right before the election (43 percent favorable, 52 percent unfavorable among registered voters).

By comparison, President Biden’s current favorable/unfavorable stands at 50 percent positive, 36 percent negative.

Even Trump’s pull within his own party appears to have lessened, with 44 percent of Republicans saying they’re more supporters of Trump than the GOP, versus 50 percent who say they’re more supporters of the GOP than the former president.

But on everyone else it has already happened. And is continuing.

Republican congressmen know this and know even with new laws like Florida passed he can not win again. But they would rather keep the power they have now rather than lose it an even more trumpian opponent. They are boxing themselves in. But since they really have no vision for a better America they could give a shit. They have abandoned all pretense of a political agenda except hate of those different than them.

Under Trump, the Republicans first lost the House and Senate, then the presidency.

Now their party is busy purging staunch Republicans who dare speak up against the orange loser. Meanwhile, hundreds of conservative officials are talking seriously about starting a third party.

Toxic Trump has ripped the Republican Party in half. Clinging on to him at this point is like trying to save yourself from a burning boat by tying yourself to an anchor and throwing yourself overboard.

So, please proceed I guess?
