Proof positive that the cray cray have jumped the shark

I cannot stand Liz Cheney - as a progressive feminist she is the antipathy of everything I hold dear. Every single position she holds is position based on privilege and building power for powers sake. She stood for Trump and the awful fascistic administration he led for four years. That she is standing against the stealing of democracy now is good. That for once in her far right life she is speaking truth to the power that has turned the screws on her is good. And I agree with her. ’Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar' she said with not one hint of irony. 'I will not participate in that,’ she said. And good, of course she shouldn't, no-one who believes in the American experiment, justice and democracy should amplify and support the big lie.

Herein lies the rub. Cheney is horrible in her policy positions. But we can all agree that what she said on the floor last night is absolutely spot on. No-one, seemingly, has the courage of her convictions to stand with her against the authoritarian theocratic male pale and stale far right Trump worshipping cult that sits at the heart of the new GOP. How can they possibly move back to a governing position that is representative of a wider cohort than the bat shit cray cray membership driving the ongoing embrace of the big lie when they cannot cope with Liz frigging Cheney trying to the grown up in the room?

Beyond doubt I am very sure that this is the one and only time I will agree with anything that comes out of her gob, but on this she is right. The fact that the far right Cheney faces the chop for standing up to the big lie bollocks... shark...jump... GOP.

Let's urge them to proceed with all haste, and assist them in any way we can as they
seek to find their rightful and well-earned place in the dustbin of history.

The insurrection is on going. I warned in another thread what would happen if a Qanon private company was given access to not only ballots but to voter information. Well guess what, Arizona Republicans are purging 140,000 people from the voter rolls. I wonder how many of those 140,000 are Republican voters?

Breakthroughs were mostly beaten back, but they're inside and could still win.

Reportedly, breakaway barbarian Cheney is planning to continue her fight against those inside. They probably are making a tactical mistake in taking away her leadership position, and with it most of their ability to control.

To the OP, it's surprising but reassuring that someone as extremely conservative as she is, for years routinely colluding in all their corruption and betrayals of their voters' needs, nevertheless draws the line at overthrowing our democracy. If she has that line, some others, voters, should also.

Especially with her Dad once being representative of the darkness. The insane conspiracy theories on the right seem to be the mark of a “true Republican” now. The worst of our society has shifted into a fantasy world.

At this time they have jumped the shark so many times that the poor thing is dizzy.

In fact, gifs tend to diminish anything posted because visuals are more immediate than words.

Here's a hint: Does your device allow for "Reader View?" It eliminates any graphics leaving only text.

Still, the use of gifs on DU is silly and distracting. My opinion.

That we are able to hold two opposing thoughts and find the intersections. Thus, Liz (just as her father) can be the antithesis of all the policies we hold dear, yet STILL be correct with respect to her similarly held views on the constitution, the importance of democracy, and the threat that Trump and his lying ilk are to all of us.

So, for those conflating the expressed relief at Liz's speaking out on this ONE issue WITH somehow changing our entire world view or at least our opinion of Liz and Dick Cheney in the totality, you are just wrong. That is the kind of black and white worldview that does nothing to help us.

Political power was more important than her sister and sister-in-law; power over people (not so different from Ted Cruz and his "ugly" wife).
That said, she is at least more reality-based than the current GQP and is therefore to be commended for that. We take what little gifts we can.

you understand how serious the situation we face in America. We are in great danger of losing our democracy, Liz Cheney gets that, some here at DU do not. All the Republican party has to do id redistrict 6 districts to win back the House. Once Republicans win back the House it's game over IMO. They can control who gets seated at the Electoral college convention, they can ignore the will of the people.

All hands on deck includes Liz Cheney, includes the 100 Republicans who are threatening to form a 3rd party to challenge the MF45 party. Our democracy is hanging by a thread. We need to pass the For The People Act, and use whatever means to achieve that. This should be Democrats #1 priority.

I don't know how many Republicans voted for Trump just because of the R by his name. But that was only 46% of the vote and now it's dwindling. So I'm kind of okay with this
