(914 posts)Yet will be sitting on the same tank of gas for the next month.
They have no consideration for those you mention. I'm using my car less this week and running it to empty in hopes that some trucks destine for FL will end up delivering up north. I can dream. Wish others could as well. If people did, instead of being overly emotionally wrought, we would all be better off.

(4,448 posts)How many people do you know that can stockpile 500 gallons of gas?
Most of us can only buy an extra 5 gallons or so.

(914 posts)500 gallons of gas will get most Americans over 10,000 miles.
Not sure what that has to do with anything being discussed. There is no point to it.

(4,448 posts)If you choose to do so?
For most Americans. Especially the ones in your example. They have a car with a 15 gallon tank and a 2 to 5 gallon tank in their shed for the lawn mower.
I happen to have a boat with a very large capacity tank (50 gallons). It's really expensive to buy fuel on the water.
So I've done the research. Buying more fuel than car holds is really difficult. Sure I can buy an extra 5 gallons, There are even portable carriers that hold up to 38 gallons (about a $400 caddy) that becomes really heavy and cumbersome.
But beyond that...it's really really hard to buy a meaningful amount of fuel beyond a car tank of gas.
So my point is - NOBODY is really stockpiling fuel beyond an extra day or two. Its just not happening.

(914 posts)That is not an honest statement.
Similar to your other statement that you cannot/refuse to back up.

(43,182 posts)Granted, I usually fill up at the local Wawa and there was a bit of a line, so I went to that one gas station that is 30 cents more than Wawa.
Still no sense of real panic yet like we see before hurricanes.

(5,270 posts)we are a prominent tourist destination and probably always have high demand even before the shortage but this week stations have just not gotten their normal deliveries plus panic buying too.

So I'm staying home today.
