AZ Sec of State Katie Hobbs: Yesterday, observers from my office discovered a WiFi router connected to the "audit" servers.
Theres no way to ensure that ballot images, vote counts, & perhaps voter data werent connected to external networks or the internet.

(82,849 posts)These people have shown by word and deed that they are not trustworthy. End this sham audit now.
This is way beyond a sham. They're going into Manafort territory now. If they're using a router, who are they sending the information to?

Some serious ratfuckery attempts going on here. One of the comments in that thread suggests it is about getting the voter rolls.
My democracy hurts.

(7,654 posts)of course it was connected to the internet because this is all a sham designed to do really bad things, including gathering data on voters.

(3,565 posts)it's really fucking time to start locking up these criminal Republican Trump supporters.
They just do whatever they want.
Level some charges, make them stick, send them to jail. ENOUGH OF THIS

I fear that this pattern will continue, and that will bring the end to our republic.

Unfortunately this probably did not occur nor will there be a substantive investigation.
One can wish.
If data was exported, be very interested to see where went.

(34,407 posts)be a little upset. The Secretary of State already needs a security detail because of all the death threats. Must be more going on there that I'm not aware of.

(19,281 posts)This is another republican criminal assault on the anchor base of our democracy.
I remember when Bobby Kennedy sent the guys in black suits with narrow lapels and skinny ties down South to protect voting rights. We need this again, immediately.

(10,641 posts)After 3 weeks, they've only counted 300,000 ballots.
Averaging 100,000 per week means this will end between 9/8 - 9/15
And that's not counting the holidays of Memorial Day, 4th of July & Labor Day.
So, maybe after 9/15 if they maintain this average.
Tim Steller @senyorreporter · May 11
OK, to get started on a few tidbits. Bennett told me more than 300,000 ballots, of the 2.1 million, have been counted. He said he expects about a third of a million (i.e. 333,000) to be counted by the end of the day.

(1,385 posts)One of the things that impressed me about doing the recount of paper ballots is how anonymous they are. Each vote is equal because no name is attached to it.
If someone wants to alter the ballots after the fact, which is what the Arizona Republicans obviously intend to do -- they need to fiddle with them in some way as to make a valid ballot appear to be invalid.
This is so ridiculous and sooooo illegal.

(10,641 posts)I was the (D) rep on election night to witness the arrival of the ballots and the counting.
I would arrive to the Registrar of Voters, around late afternoon prior to the polls closing.
The ROV would give us instructions on what we could and could not do.
Counting would finish around 5am - 6am the following morning.
When polls closed, ROV would immediately count the early voting ballots, and release
the results about 30 minutes after the polls closed.
What I found amazing was that those initial early results, the final numbers didn't
change that much from the initial early results.
So after the 3rd or 4th election, the minute I saw the returns, I would call SD (D)
headquarters and tell them the early returns, and told them not to expect much change.

(4,380 posts)I also work the polls or hand count the mail ins.
We have to give our info and sign a document with Homeland Security. Do you have to do the same in either place? I am wondering if it is just here or if it is nationwide.

(1,385 posts)but then I was only a worker not the one in charge. My working at the polls after 9/11 was in Vermont. The Secretary of State in Vermont was the one in charge of the protocol at the polls.
The recount we did in Vermont was for a down ticket vote. The security and rules were very exact and very strict with an even number of Republicans and Democrats involved in each step. A judge oversaw everything. The best adjectives to describe my experience are reverence and patriotism. The security in protecting the ballots was impressive.
After my experience, what is happening in Arizona is tantamount to tossing the ballots in the air and letting them fall where they may. There are no words to describe it -- but then attempting to describe Republican actions is an impossible task.

(966 posts)The trouble is, if shut down, the RWNJs are itching to shout "What are they afraid of?" ... "This is cancel culture, hiding the truth," etc, et al.
Their audience is primed and ready for this. Unfortunately, the 71 million Trump voters will lap it up and a meme is reinforced.
