For some reason, I watched The View today and the opening topic was the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Everyone agreed that it was a grotesque attack on American democracy. But when it was Ms McCain's turn, she spent a moment denouncing the attack and then changed the subject completely. She bitched about the current "disastrous gas shortage" and how it was all Joe Biden's fault.
This so-called "shortage" will last about a week and Joe Biden didn't use ransomware to shut down that gas pipeline. But that made no difference to Meghan. She was going to attack our (legally elected) president no matter what, and place the blame for all the problems of the world on him.
Many think that Meghan is a "moderate" Republican. I think she's a total ass.

(16,845 posts)today's GOP. You either get in line and spout their talking points or they'll push you out. Mitt Romney is more moderate than she is, and when it comes to fiscal issues, he's no moderate either.

(34,195 posts)That's a BIG Fox news talking point this morning.
They claim gas lines are now a daily part of life in Biden's "socialist America".
P.S. If Meghan isn't attacking Biden, she's demanding Fauci be fired.

(3,166 posts)Most of the people who are bitching about this had probably never even heard of the Colonial Pipeline a week ago, just like those people who had never heard of those Dr. Seuss books.

(6,477 posts)If the gas shortage happened under Trump, nobody here would be saying "Oh, it was ransomware, Trump has nothing to do with it." Well, I mean some people would be saying that, but not many.

(3,166 posts)Most of us here seem to realize that Presidents have very little control over gas prices. External forces often affect gas prices, and Presidents have very little to do with that. When the bottom dropped out of the oil market last year, no one gave Trump credit for lowering prices.

Of course we didnt give him credit - we know he didnt deserve any. But I dont remember anyone outside of DU crowing that he had lowered gas prices.

(500 posts)Blame for not having an anti foreign hacker shield in place? Isn't that part of the infrastructure plan?
Blame Biden for getting people to vote for him. If he had lost, Russia wouldn't have hacked our infrastructure.
So, Biden being president is at fault.
Should we live according to Russia's wishes because they attack us when we live free?
If not, is it Biden's fault or is it the fault of USA Citizens? Because if it isn't Biden, it just might be someone else that the Russians want voted out.

Yaas, Daddy and Lindsey and LIEBERMAN - all weasels. I wondered why Joy didn't get to rake LIEBERMAN over the coals, guess she wasn't there.

Megan shouldnt have the microphone of a public persona based on the nonsense she spouts.

Besides, I don't think she'd provide nearly as interesting ay foil for the other ladies on the panel as her daughter. That role calls for someone who is willing to say dumb stuff and keep on saying dumb stuff after she's been called out for it. Somehow, I don't see Cindy doing that.

(4,886 posts)"Biden's another Jimmy Carter!"
Carter was president when OPEC did an oil embargo on the US causing surging prices and long lines, interest rates surged, and Iran took 400 Americans hostage. Carter "caused" none of this, but it was used to defeat him after one term.
These sites are usually one of the first places where new talking points are tested out.

(21,147 posts)Every time I heard McCain speak my blood pressure rose and I screamed at the tv. I realized I cant watch someone so stupid and entitled on that show anymore. The months she was gone on maternity leave were the best. I will watch it again when shes off the show. She brings nothing but her right wing husband viewpoints. You can tell by watching her that her husband is feeding her talking points. She only got the job because of her Father not her talents.

(260 posts)We record the View and sometimes watch parts, but that McCain woman is always going "I'm a conservative and people like me...", before she launches off into some, to me, bizarro line that has no relation to reality. Which is about when my better half says that's enough...
It seems to me that her trademark "I'm a conservative" line is a distortion of the term 'conservative'. She's conserving nothing to my eyes, on the contrary she deflects from the insurrection which attacked the foundations of our democracy and tried to blame President Biden (still liking that!) for a Russian cyber attack.
I'm told that the twitterverse is awash with requests that she be removed. Does her presence actually help the ratings?

Inquiring minds want to know.
This is all about shifting blame from the last Administration and their total lack of competence and transparency. McCain's simply mouthing The Federalist Society's excuse extravaganza: blame the current Biden Administration for the boatload of malfeasance from the past 4 years of Republican mismanagement.
Pathetic!

(25,519 posts)Only because someone she considers just like her and identifies with, Cheney, was voted out of leadership. She's incapable of being objective, everything's about her. Then she deflected to gas prices and how it's Biden's fault, gas prices were totally low last year under Trump.
Today the list of "meat and potato" things that people care about and Biden is at fault for has grown. Conservatives, campion of the little people who care about meat and potatoes issues.
I feel embarrassed for her mother. Meghan's attacks on Biden after what a good friend he's been to the family are vulgar.
