Speaker Nancy Pelosi said masks will still be required for members of Congress and staff on the House floor despite new guidance from the CDC because the vaccination status of members, particularly Republicans, is not known, Bloomberg reports.

Vaccines should have never been made a political issue.

5. The entire pandemic shouldn't have been made a political issue.

Unfortunately, that is a bell which can't be un-rung.

Similar to the mealy mouthed portion of the CDC's change to the guidelines where it states, if things appear to be going down hill again. We'll reinstate the masking and distancing guidelines. Another bell which once tolled, nobody is going to pay any attention to.

It is naïve to think anybody is going to go back to high pandemic standards once they have been told it's okay not to. Especially, in America as we've learned over the past year.

I remember reading a Democrat's account of Jan 6, of being stuck in the safe room with Democrats and Republicans that had *not* been vaccinated. That may have changed, but who knows.

3. I have mixed feelings on this

There may be members and staff who legitimately cannot receive the vaccine. They deserve protection. However, the CDC recommendations are moving in the direction of making mask mandates less reasonable. I hope Pelosi has a plan to avoid maintaining mandates too long.
