and temps went to 115 degrees.
The dog was saved by people walking by the car. They broke the window to get the dog out
Sadly the dog was returned to the owner.
Do you think the dog should have been returned to his owner ?
I DONT!!!!!
Put the SOB in the car and watch him check out! Am I being unreasonable?
I dont know how to add the link

(54,559 posts)he was harming his dog. To the contrary, he'd get angry at us for pontificating (to him) about it. Police were called at one time and the dog returned to him. He never should have been allowed to own a dog.

(54,559 posts)My sister worked for a veterinarian for a decade.
She scolded Dad about the hot car and not feeding the dog "people food" indiscriminately.
Result: Dad removed my sister as Executor from his Will.
Later Result: Dad disinherited all of us (brother, sister, me) from his Will.
Dad was a mean SOB.

(15,359 posts)100 out. Then I see a kid running toward the car, then my buddy the locksmith practically put his van up on two wheel coming around the corner to help. The kid (young dad) had just left the baby in there with the A/C going while he ran in one of the businesses for a second. He comes out and finds he locked himself out.
Everything was fine but until I called my locksmith buddy, you know what I thought I may have seen. I hope I never do.

(108 posts)save lives! Assuming the person forgot the animal or child was in the car . This one car where I go shopping leaves a note on their car stating the air conditioner is on and it is. I checked it LOL 😆

(4,445 posts)Tesla's have 'dog mode' for the A/C system. The car will be cooled inside for the doggie and if you look at the screen which is visible from outside the car, it will say that the car is in dog mode and cool.

(5,731 posts)I couldn't find a shady spot at a rest area, and had to ask a stranger to hold my dog's lead while I made a quick pit stop (My beloved Nikki was many things, but able to pass herself off as a service dog was not one of them).
After that experience, when travelling with dog(s) but no other humans, I carry a list of Petco and PetSmart locations, where I am allowed to bring my dog in with me.

(39,589 posts)...and it doesn't matter what the outdoor temperature is. No unattended animals in cars.
(I know that's first offense. I don't know if it gets more expensive if you keep doing it.)

(76,119 posts)...there's a weather condition element.
Over 80, under 40 are subject to fine.
Some municipalities are stricter, but the vast majority just follow state law.
There's a time element too.
I think it's 15 minutes. So, me jumping out to get my wife coffee creamer and leaving puppy in the car for a few minutes is ok.
But, doing big shopping could be an issue with the law.
The city of 160,000 north of us lowered the high temperature rule to 75. But, I've never driven there with any of our dogs, so it's not an issue.
I don't know what the fine is, because I don't know anyone who's ever been pinched for it.

(15,158 posts)Our boys are never ever left in a car unattended. If my hubby and I are out together and have our dogs with us one of us stays in car with them with the A/C or the heat running.
