Grown Adult Republican Lawmakers Fined $500 After Whiny Mask Protest on House Floor
AEROSOL ALERT

The good news is that these Republican lawmakers are finally speaking out about oppression and the right to protest—the bad news is that it’s only over a rule that causes mild inconvenience specifically to them. Three House Republicans have reportedly been fined $500 over a whiny anti-mask protest on the House floor on Tuesday, and seven others have been warned that they will be fined if they repeat their little stunt. The 10 defied the chamber’s mask mandate that will be remain place until all lawmakers have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The brave protesters were Reps. Brian Mast (R-FL), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Chip Roy (R-TX), Bob Good (R-VA), Mary Miller (R-IL), and Louie Gohmert (R-TX). After the protest, Greene posted a selfie of her and her grinning colleagues with the caption: “Masks are oppressive and nothing but a political tool. End the oppression!”

I got my hair cut yesterday. I wore my mask. The person who cut my hair was the owner of the salon. I asked her what her mask policy was. She stated that if I was vaccinated I didn't have to wear my mask if I didn't want to. If I wasn't vaccinated she requested I wear my mask. She also informed me that she had been vaccinated.

See how easy it is for grown up people to interact with one another.

can't lie that they got vaccinated because it would upset the morans who voted for them.

You are correct in your analysis if we were dealing with rational people. House GQP could lie that they got vaccinated, but they can't.

The owner who cut my hair is drowned in business right now and she wants to keep it that way. I have been going to this place for years and know the people who cut hair there quite well. I believe the people who work there. The owner even explained how she got to jump line because of age because she was a smoker, and I'm guessing because I live in an MF45 area it's getting easier to get vaccinated, they have an over supply.

It doesn’t appear to be a “you must wear a mask unless you have been vaccinated” rule... it appears too require making until everyone has been vaccinated.

That’s quickly becoming out of step with other requirements (apparently including the senate).

They clearly aren’t going to get to 100%, and Pelosi will have no luck requiring documentation from members who have been vaccinated, so how long can it last before becoming a problem?

and our church has the policy that you don't have to wear a mask, if you don't want to, if you were vaccinated. People who weren't vaccinated must wear masks. Monsignor admitted to me that he wasn't going to card anyone to prove they were vaccinated.

I give Monsignor credit for taking the time to explain about why there are still restrictions for going to church. He stated that he didn't feel comfortable lifting all of the restrictions at this time. Will the MF45 cult like what he said? Who cares, he was using common sense.

Not that you live in MF45 country (ok... that's a problem too), but that it sounds like your church has a perfectly reasonable policy. More importantly, it's a policy that more and more people will find reasonable.

Yet it isn't Pelosi's policy. She's requiring vaccinated members to still wear masks until everyone has been vaccinated. While Schumer isn't wearing one himself in the neighboring senate (let alone fining members).

The problem is that the House won't ever get to 100% because Pelosi will never be able to require proof and too many (likely vaccinated) republicans will refuse to say. She won't be able to keep the rule in place "until all members have been vaccinated". The longer she waits, the more the other side will be able to say that they forced her to back down - rather than changing the rules when doing so makes sense.
