... is how easily they are led to the slaughter.
A combination of a poor education, stupidity, ignorance, and naivete, couple with a violent media culture, is a cocktail for disaster.
America's lack of understanding history does not bode well when a smooth-talking con-artist crosses their trail. Those that stand for nothing will fall for anything. And Boy, did they fall!
It is nothing to brag about. It is embarrassing.
Such easy targets. A fool and his money are soon parted.
It is the people of America that are so scary.

(3,280 posts)that the majority of us are not/have not been fooled into Dumpy's talking. I can't call it smooth talking because this man is by far the grossest human being ever to hold the presidency. Those who follow him will not/cannot be saved. Let's hope that Democracy prevails.

(9,225 posts)Trump provide the focal point through the lens of social media, and came close to burning the Republic down.
He, or someone like him, still may do it.
It's going to be very tough going from now on. The hounds of hell are "off the leash".
It will take all the strength and determination of the rest of us to keep them from ravaging the land.

(11,913 posts)I think that was the point the Q-guy's lawyer was making, and going un-noticed until he resorted to offensive vulgarity.
tRumphumpers are a few eggs short of a dozen, overly gullible, malleable etc. We've been saying that for years.
MF45 on his own wouldn't be scary or much of a threat. It's the masses of willing followers who are the threat.

(13,517 posts)You already have those who blindly follow and believe what they are told, and blindly follow those who tell them to do so, without question. Then there are those that exploit the fact that these people will follow without question for their own nefarious purposes. Instead of blaming the education system, perhaps it is time to investigate what is being taught to children and adults in church. People need to be deprogramed the same as those in cults, because many of the churches are cults.

(6,761 posts)the most far-reaching, effective, targeted propaganda campaign since Hitler, aimed squarely at poorly educated 'Muricans, to con them into believing no end of absurdities, e.g. health care for all is a bad thing, billionaires are "job creators" who care about the lower echelons, tax cuts for the wealthy are a good thing, scientists and other experts should be ignored, your problems result from brown people getting too much power, etc. etc. etc.

(10,540 posts)It is not just RW media, they all do it to some extent. Media advertisers have so much leverage they get what they want. I saw this first hand during the BP oil spill. There is so much not reported. BP even bought up most of the documentaries that were coming out. Producers were telling us my boss could not go on their shows anymore because of the oil companies objection to any victim stories being aired or discussed. He had been a go to legal pundit for BP and other litigation related stories.
