Ron Johnson Says He's Going to Do His Own Investigation of the Capitol Insurrection
Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson voted Wednesday against forming a bipartisan commission to investigate the origins of the riot by Trump supporters at the US Capitol that disrupted the tallying of electoral votes and forced him and other lawmakers to flee for their lives.
Johnson, a Trump supporter who favored overturning states' election outcomes, told a right-wing cable channel that he is conducting his own examination.
Im doing my own investigation to really accurately recreate what happened on Jan. 6th," said Johnson. By and large it was peaceful protests, except for there were a number of peoplebasically agitators that whipped the crowd and breached the Capitoland thats really the truth of whats happening here."
Johnson faced widespread criticism last year for pushing false accusations about the election, advancing Russian propaganda with hearings looking into long-discredited claims involving Ukraine, and downplaying the coronavirus pandemic. Since the riot, Johnson has repeatedly downplayed the violence and intent of the seditionists who stormed halls of Congress. And he was roundly excoriated in March for saying he did not feel threatened by the mob but would have if it had been part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The fact of the matter is even calling it insurrectionit wasnt, Johnson said last night.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) on Wednesday railed against a bill for a bipartisan commission intended to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, suggesting he was at work on his own investigation into the events which he claimed had involved peaceful protests and a few agitators.
Im doing my own investigation to really accurately recreate what happened on January 6th but Nancy Pelosis commission is not going to dig into this in any bipartisan fashion, Johnson said during a Fox News interview. She gets to pick all of the staff members. This is a joke and should be voted down. ........................................

Rep. John Katko (R-NY) who led negotiations for the legislation, said the assertion that the investigators would be selected by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who has been pressing for the bipartisan action were false.
This is about facts. Its not partisan politics, Katko said on the House floor Wednesday. The commission creates the rules as a team. They then hire as a team, he added.

(103,805 posts)A kid from my early days, we were five or six, and he annoyed me every day. One day I was on my back steps and about to enjoy a lollypop my mom had just given me when Billy came along and assured me it was his as he snatched it from my hand and put it in his mouth. I nailed him. I'm sure I got in a few good licks as he ran home crying but I got in trouble for fighting while being a girl.
He has the same eyes and goofy look. I can't say what I want to about him at this point, I kind of like having my personal freedom while it lasts.
