Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls the Capitol riot an 'all-out attempted coup' and hints her House colleagues are too scared to talk about it'It has deeply, deeply affected lawmaking, policy making and it's very quiet, it's not spoken about,' she told journalist Maria Hinojosa in an interview airing Friday on the weekly public radio show 'Latino USA' and shared in advance with NBC News.
She pointed to how Vice President Mike Pence was rushed out of the Senate chamber will about a minute to spare as the insurrectionists came looking for him.
The crowd, made of mostly of Donald Trump supporters, were disrupting Congress' certification of Joe Biden's electoral college win. Pence was overseeing the process in his ceremonial role as vice president and had no authority to stop it despite pressure from Trump to do so.
'Pence was the one person, arguably, that had one of the most important roles in making sure that procedurally the Electoral College counts went on as proceeded. Sixty seconds could have meant potentially the difference between what we have right now and a martial state,' Ocasio-Cortez said. 'This was an all-out attempted coup.'
'If 60 seconds went differently, if a different door was opened, if a chair wasn't barricaded in a certain way, we could have a completely different reality right now,' she said. 'We don't want to acknowledge that that's how close we got, but that is how close we got.'

Who was in his hotel room?

NOTE: Sounds like Rep. Gimenez is a co-conspirator to me. Is he one of the short bus traitors Q-Shaman's lawyer was talking about???? What say the rest of you?

(28,979 posts)The rest is behind a paywall, but this is a linked tweet worth reading:
The importance of this breaking news can't be overstated. The discovery, by PROOF, of the first Insurrection Eve war room led to a confession by a US senator that he'd lied to the media; lawsuit threats from Roger Stone and Michael Flynn; and a congressional inquiry in Brazil.
2/ This second war room is *bigger* news because it was more clandestine, hosted more dubious figures, was apparently the nerve center for all other war room sitesincluding Trump International and possibly the White House and VP's mansionand was closest to the insurrectionists.
3/ The number of questions answered by this revelation is too many to count. Roger Stone disappeared on the evening of January 5 and was invisible on January 6. Where was he? At the Willard. The location of the Jones-Flynn interview on January 5 is now revealed as... the Willard.
4/ Where were Bannon's lieutenants on January 5 and 6? The Willard. Where did the Oath Keepers congregate? The Willard. Where did Stop the Steal have its HQ? Apparently, the Willard. The list of insurrectionists who seem to have been and out of Trump's war room there is massive.
5/ The revelation of the Trump International war room led to dozens of follow-up stories at PROOF, and so will this revelation. Every key insurrectionistRogan O'Handley, Ali Alexander, Alex Jones, Michael Flynnnow must be cross-indexed with reporting of who was at the Willard.

(28,979 posts)Those who have spent more time educating themselves tend to think they know better than other people.
When rioters broke into the US Capitol on January 6, chants of Fuck the police! USA! or Treason! echoed in the marble halls. When Dr. Simone Gold got inside the rotunda, she stepped over a velvet rope and announced to anyone who would listen, I am a Stanford-educated attorney!
Thus she distinguished herself among the motley crew of Proud Boys, MAGA types, and the QAnon shaman who paraded through the Capitol to overturn the 2020 presidential election, an event that left five people dead. Not only is Gold a Stanford-educated lawyer, shes also a board-certified emergency room physician. Neither qualification prevented the FBI from coming to her Beverly Hills house on January 18 and arresting her. Nor did it make a federal grand jury think twice in early February before indicting her on five criminal counts, including entering a restricted building and obstructing an official proceeding.
Within days of her first media hit, she had teamed up with tea party groups working with the Trump reelection campaign to demand that governors reopen the economy. Fox News put her on national TV to publicly denounce lockdowns and mask mandates as overblown responses to a disease she insisted wasnt fatal to most people. In July, her new right-wing friends ushered her to meetings with members of Congress and Vice President Mike Pence. The sudden fame seems to have propelled her right up the steps and into the Capitol on January 6.
Her arrest highlights the role of conservative media in fomenting an insurrection, but Golds personal experience also illustrates what experts on extremism have long known: Education is no defense against radicalization. If you think of who is susceptible of extremist ideology, people tend to think its people who dont have much education, says Don Haider-Markel, a University of Kansas political science professor who has studied extremism and radicalization. Thats not the case at all. It tends to be more middle class and upper class. Those who have spent more time educating themselves tend to think they know better than other people.
