May I Humbly Bring Up A Proposal To The Group ???

I almost did not post the post below because of the title, I Kinda Liked Mitt, Until I Lost My Job

DU Link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021545316

And the reason why... is because my initial snark reflex went off and I thought something along the lines of, "Well read a newspaper once in awhile, or, So only when your job is lost to you start looking for help", and a thousand other nano-second knee-jerk reactions.

Operative word there is Jerk.

It took me a couple of minutes... and actually WATCHING the video... and I thought to myself...

Hey asshole... this woman just learned/found out in a few months, what many of us have known for decades! And ... this woman might have just decided to vote Democrat and/or BECOME a Democrat for the first time in her life.

What I'm suggesting is that she got a real life crash course in the political reality of our times. She did not necessarily have the opportunity to study for the test.

So...

Remember... that all newbies are not trolls...

And... whether newbie or not... people who are frightened about the possibility that Romney and the Moneyed Interests might be able to pull this thing out... are not necessarily Concern Trolls...

Hell... I'm worried, but I just keep plowing... FORWARD!

Finally... many new people, people that are young, people that have been hurt, abused, neglected, or any manner of reaseons... INCLUDING leaving the band of Looney-Toones that is now the current GOP... may just be looking for some REAL information.

And finally finally... remember that this place was founded for a whole lot of wounded Democrats and fellow travelers after the SCOTUS gave the Presidency to GWBush.

It should be a safe place for us, and those that want to join us.

And P.S.... WE NEED EVERY ONE OF THEM!

I wrote a post not long after the debates voicing my frustration and got accused of being a troll. When I asked questions about Benghazi and said I thought that might blow into a significant story, I got accused of being a troll. I have been posting here off and on for over nine years, devote every spare dime and all the time I can to Obama and fight the good liberal fight every day down here in the deep South and would really appreciate being able to voice a concern or a doubt without being labeled a troll.

I'll guarantee you that more American jobs have been lost to automation than to trade agreements since NAFTA was signed. They throw a bunch of numbers out there for jobs lost due to trade agreements; how many jobs were lost because of more efficient centralization of products? (i.e. Walmart warehouses) How many jobs were lost because of database efficiency? How many programmer jobs were lost after the programs were written?

I'm all for following these trade agreements to make sure that they contain language that protects American workers, but every time I see one of these posts; it looks more like an attack on the president than a call to action.

If we really want to protect American jobs at all costs; are you in favor of stopping plants from automating?

I'm sure there's more to these trade agreements than meets the eye (which is probably why Obama has changed his position on it) but before I believe we've lost all these jobs to NAFTA; I'd want to see how they came up with the numbers. As it is; it just looks like they're just throwing numbers out there for the purpose of Clinton and Obama bashing.

what I knew of him was from RWers who hated him, and so I saw him as a moderate republican going against the conservatives in his party. Someone recently posted a video of him arguing with a real extremist about abortion, I thought he came out looking good, for a Republican. But that was from back in 2007, he has changed since then, or at least he has changed his positioning since then.

Though just a newbie to this site, I'm on Dkos and have been for quite a while...I've not posted as much as I've read because I do understand tis the season of the trolls--concerned or obnoxious, they are out there. But as the original poster said, some people are looking for info, or support or like my husband the recovering Republican, trying to find a place under the big tent with people who are a little more like minded then GOP after the birth of the Tea Party. It's a rough election that's for sure--Like everyone else I'm looking for info and when I can find it, peace of mind. Although the latter is often hard to come by at present! I do hope tomorrow night will settle some nerves and help us all concentrate on GOTV and moving..erm..Forward! ) Yeah I know..cheesey but it was there!

I have seen a few people go through what these new people are going through. It's hard to lose your heroes, and sometimes it can be hard to lose them all at once like that. We should all try to be a little more tolerant of the newbies; we were all new at one time or another. There do seem to be a lot of new faces around, which I take as a very encouraging sign for the future. And damned if they aren't a pretty "fired up" bunch!

Welcome, all new DU members!

There is also the phenomenon of the "lurker"; a category that I fall into a lot, due to a serious lack of online time. Sometimes it's all I can do just to get all the headlines covered, much less post a pithy, intelligent comment. Thanks to all posters, for making sure I am staying informed!

If that makes me a mean person then so be it. Over the decades it has been people like her who ruined this country. If things were still going fine for her she would say screw other people not doing so well. If she were to get a decent paying job tomorrow she would vote for Romney.

Seriously, she is breaking down in tears because her daughter can't get dance lessons? We learned to dance by listening to music. and matching the moves on the Ed Sullivan Show. No lessons needed. She could probably catch dance lessons for her child on PBS or pick up a free DVD at the local library but she probably still doesn't support those "commie " programs.

I may be a wounded warrior but i am a warrior who has seen many battles. I know enough that this woman will vote republican as soon as things turn around for her.

because over the years i have seen many people like her. I am not so sure she really will vote for President Obama but maybe she is down enough. I also know that when times get better for her, even if it is due to work by President Obama, she will go back to voting republican.

How do you think republicans have stayed in office and achieved so much power? It is because of people like her. They get kicked around by republicans, democrats come to their rescue, and the ingrates vote republicans back into office over some stupid social issues.

Time will prove my point.

They don't/won't see how screwed up something is until it effects them directly. I go through this all the time with the NWO economics advocates, whether it is, the great bankster heist, H-1(b)/L-1 visas, off-shoring, the 401-(k) scam, you name it, their position always boils down to "it's working well for me" or "it hasn't hurt me".
