Post-WH presidential fees . . . . .

That Former Guy, his wife, and his kids have Secret Service detail (well, the kids until July 20, 2021).

This week, it was reported that Mar-A-Lago charged the SS $40,000 for their accommodations since January.

As the Former Guy is no longer in the WH and apprehension/fear of him has been reduced somewhat, why wouldn't the Budget Office dispute the amount of charges or negotiate them to a lower amount?

Same thing with Jared's jaunt to the Mid-East a couple of weeks ago?

Why pay whatever they ask? I don't mean their receipts aren't there. I mean the number is likely inflated.

$40,000 is a surprisingly--nay, stunningly--reasonable price tag for their accommodations.

A broom closet or dumb waiter would adequately house all the "work" this clown has ever done.

The secret service is compromised by Trump's existence.

For one room office space in a sprawling complex. The Service should bring in a trailer and park it in the parking lot. They would save a hell of a lot of money. Cost about 25000 used and in great shape. Last for years. 10x35 should about get it done

Normally, the Secret Service pays for its own accommodation directly to 'the entity' that owns the property and I don't believe that it has ever been an ex-president who was 'the entity' that owned the property.

It's not the amount of money, it's 'the entity' who owns the rental property that has created this issue.

We need a means to compare the actual Secret Service expenditures (adjusted for inflation) across multiple Ex-Presidents for the same period of time - which would likely require a FOIA request. This would either kill or reinforce the argument that "the entity" in question is overcharging.

I gladly stand to be corrected on this.

He'd probably make a stink of it. But I have been thinking about it and I wonder how things would turn out if he ended up enlisting the beastly bois and other miscreants for security. Could be messy.

Wish we could tell trump that he doesn't deserve traditional X-Prez benefits, but he was elected and I'm fine with Obama, Clinton, Carter, and Biden one day, getting protection.

That the secret service offered to them at their home in New York. Trump charges and takes but that should surprise no one. That is what he is. Donnie two scoops is and always has been a taker.

The service may have paid for some renovations to the garage but the Clintons do not “rent” it back to them.
