Haven't had much in 2 weeks and the forecast is for clouds and rain for another week.
My flowers are punkin out and my mighty mule gate opener, which uses a 10 watt
solar charger..won't work...Need to mow but the snapper gets plugged in wet grass.
Dang! Guess I'll have to watch Michelson win another golf major....

(34,521 posts)this Kansas farm is muddier than it has been in years! Almost 5 inches last week and another week of clouds and rain....like you! I doubt our solar panels are helping much at this point but it is nice enough to not run the air or heat so that helps. You would think that in May with this kind of weather you could at least get a tornado or two around here to keep things moving, at least your heart.
Just think, when the sun comes out it will be nice for about 30 minutes in the morning then the sauna days come.

bet that when summer really hits here it will hit hard. ...😅

(34,521 posts)I always long for rain and my crop is doing quite nicely in the long, cool wet spring. Brome grass grows very well in this and the last 2 crops have been disappointing. The horses and goats are happy in the cool weather too.
I just went over and looked at the drought map. It looks like we are good for a long while now. Enjoy the cool, green spongy now! It never used to bother me much, those hot and muggy days and working in it but at my age it had gotten harder and harder. I planned well, I should be done with animals in a few years since they are all really old. It was fun until I got old!!

Let it rain!

(33,638 posts)Been holding off on the weed-whacking for a stretch like this, when the weeds are already nice and stressed. Rain would be nice, but I won't complain if it waits a little longer. Glad I am not like a lot of the people in my neighborhood who have been whacking down their trees left and right. At least the house gets shaded.

(8,883 posts)I have neighbors on both sides of me whacking down trees, and a whole new development with whacked trees behind me.
What's the deal with that? I cherish the few trees I have. Let them stay.

(33,638 posts)The worst part is that those trees could be sequestering carbon dioxide to slow climate change. Hope their grass is worth the bigger power bills coming their way.

(320 posts)I live in the Portland, Oregon area. We are gray today with rain in the forecast for the next 2 days. We are way behind in amount of rain for this spring, so any rain is good that will keep the Pacific Northwest green.

(36,346 posts)Mid to upper 80s predicted for today and humid. Too hot and muggy to be outdoors, IMO. I just dont tolerate heat well.
The ground is as hard as a rock since weve had practically no rain for 2 weeks

It is Sun-day and a good day to rest, even if that custom is steeped in tradition that even predates
Christianity. There's a time to embrace tradition and a day to fight it. This is a good day for embracing.

(16,724 posts)haven't had any measurable rain in St Petersburg for over 45 days.
I'm glad I'm wrapping up my garden and picking tomatos and peppers instead of planting. Hopefully things even out come September and the winter garden can go in.
P.S. Gulf of Mexico temp 84 degrees in the nearshore waters.

There is a high pressure system settled over Bermuda. That means that this part of Florida gets sunny, dry weather. On the other hand, the way the winds blow, this tends to set up showers developing in the Gulf that move west over the Peninsula, giving them afternoon showers.
Since we had a very wet winter and spring, we can use some dry weather. But Peninsular Florida has been dry so regular afternoon showers would be great for them.
