The wheels of justice do move slowly but I pray they really are moving! The DOJ and state level AGs may have the most critical role in the coming 2 years. If there were GOP misdeeds, they must be exposed and prosecuted. Given what we do know, it seems pretty much impossible to me that there were no serious misdeeds. The failure to take action on those issues would normalize what the nation has been through which would in turn pave the way for the next step towards fascism. And I fear there are very few steps left on that path sadly So all eyes on the DOJ...

and one opinion was that the reason that Trump has not been indicted and may not be indicted, is that the US is afraid of a revolution.

That our Democracy was very wobbly right now, and because of Trump it may not survive. But indicting Trump and pursue justice might just tip of over the edge.

Wondering, based on the Trump appeal, do you think that the Trumpies are willing to die for Trump in large numbers? And, in the process bring about the downfall of the nation?

Would tRumpies be willing to die for their dear leader? Well given 70+ million voted for him, my guess is that in there, there are some crazy enough to do just that. Hopefully not too many. Instead, the risk is perhaps that democracy gets knocked down a peg or two. That may not mean it is gone completely, but rather than it operates on a very different set of rules for a few cycles (a weakened democracy than we are used to).

Ultimately however my guess is that demographics will eventually mean that the tide will shift back again. Every 4 year presidential cycle the GOP loses some of their base to 'natural causes'. Those moving on from this world are then replaced by younger voters who become eligible to vote for the first time. Despite the GOP's efforts to get their poison into the youth, they aren't being sufficiently successful to balance their old voters who are 'moving on'. That is putting them further into a hole. At the moment they can cheat, scam or frighten enough people to compensate for those ongoing loses, but eventually those tactics will run out of steam (and perhaps even backfire) and the nation will tire of their ever more crazy antics. Will that take time - I think so and unfortunately quite a bit of time. Will there be nasty incidents ahead - unfortunately I think likely there will be. That's just my musings - Who knows what the future will hold?

I really like the way you think. Actually, you’ve given me with your post the most peace of mind that I’ve had since the shithole was introduced to the presidency.

Thank you and welcome to DU.

Amen. That's my question, repeatedly asked but never answered.

We get countless reporting of any day now, they're going to be indicted. Any day now, they're going to be facing charges. Any day now, it's going to be soon. Manhattan Office is all over it. They got the best case against the entire family.

Any day now, any day now, any day now, any day now........

In the meantime, the "former" guy is rising above the ashes of his 2020 election loss, and several of his cult followers are rising to power. Election results are being overturned, lenders from financial institutions like BofA are loaning money up to over a billion dollars, and on and on and on and on.

And oh by the way, some crypto currency billionaire from Belarus is buying up the state of Vermont. Putin accolade? don't know.

Every passing day, my optimism vanishes into the abyss.
