Wouldn't it be a lot less corruptible if the AG Merrick Garland appoints a special prosecutor to look into it? I would trust his choice for a fair complete investigation with a well respected special prosecutor to look into this before any Republican being involved in any way having anything to do with this process.

(3,433 posts)What Garland is doing is a criminal investigation. The commission would investigate all behavior and motives, and that is what a congressional investigation would do. If Trump was still President, you would need a special prosecutor.

(43,122 posts)There's something incestuous about politicians investigating the politically motivated insurrection. Rule of law will be an unassailable metric for the public to be told what actually happened.
