If the GOP in the Senate obstructs a Jan. 6th commission,

Wouldn't it be a lot less corruptible if the AG Merrick Garland appoints a special prosecutor to look into it? I would trust his choice for a fair complete investigation with a well respected special prosecutor to look into this before any Republican being involved in any way having anything to do with this process.

He is already investigating it himself. What is the need for a special prosecuter? everyonematters May 2021 #3
You have got a point there. duforsure May 2021 #4
Hopefully indictments of perpetrators on Jan 5 and 6 will trump any Congressional investigation bucolic_frolic May 2021 #5

What Garland is doing is a criminal investigation. The commission would investigate all behavior and motives, and that is what a congressional investigation would do. If Trump was still President, you would need a special prosecutor.

Does a special prosecutor appointed have more powers ? I do trust Merrick Garland a lot.

There's something incestuous about politicians investigating the politically motivated insurrection. Rule of law will be an unassailable metric for the public to be told what actually happened.

Is that the Republican traitors in Congress are put on blast. That seems to be what they want to avoid
