That every one of those conservative Reagan ideas that he believed in and still spews failed the American middle class and working class - urban and rural.
So please JoeScum - shut the fuck up about when ReTHUGs were the party of ideas.

They went full racist after the civil rights act and many Democrats switched Republican.

He lied/misled the American people most of the time (made up the "Cadillac Queen" out of mere cloth/racism) and set the tone for the Repuke party since. Lie and obfuscate.

republicans are afraid to look for truths. He didn't take the bet and he got real quiet.

(9,090 posts)him and bush and the rest of that criminal operation, attacking media and dem critics, and praising the old fart for 30 years we would have moved on long ago.
without limbaugh and spawn to worship that old dumbshit he would have been just a senile dumbshit who became president due to treasonous sabotage and interference in the election - paying the iranians to hold the hostages until after (i think it was the day after?) the election. and the dumbshit may never even have known what bush/cheney etc did.
reagan gets way too much credit for what has happened to the republican party and the US. even though he did kill the fairness doctrine in 87, paving the way for the monopoly that protected idiot rw radio liars like limbaugh and hannity and successive racist morans and 10 years later Fox, it was and is the victims of that incredibly successful fascist sex on the wrong brain propaganda operation that continue to ignore it that should now feel responsible.

Yeah. Right. Lets consider some of those ideas, shall we?
Selfishness.
Deceit.
Hypocrisy.
Machiavellianism.
Greed.
Resentment.
Prejudice.
Intolerance.
Domination.
Short-sightedness.
Exclusion.
Hatred.
Segregation.
Cheating to win.
Willful ignorance.
Shameless pride in all of the above.
Just off the top of my head.

(53,214 posts)still believe the myth of Reagan, a myth that barely resembles the real man, but was created to help sell their small government, low taxes ideas. Some of the smarter ones are beginning to realize that it was a sham all along, that the party increasingly made compromises to get back into power, until we ended up with Trump and his rabid base.
Scarborough spent so many years spewing the right-wing crap, he just can't let go of it entirely.

(870 posts)Even when trickle down economics are played out, if it's by a Dem they find all kinds of problems with it. This article in WAPO yesterday is the perfect example.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/05/21/bidens-ev-tax-credits-redistribute-wealth-upward/
"Subsidies, including tax credits for purchasers, will fiddle the market by lowering EV (electric vehicle) prices enough to manufacture a demand sufficient to justify manufacturing the vehicles in quantities (such that middle-class people can buy them)"
A tax cut for the rich that ACTUALLY (eventually) trickles down a benefit for the middle-class is the basis for all of the right's trickle down policies. But they usually never trickle down any benefit on anyone but the already uber-rich.
George Will pummeling Biden for trickling down some benefit from the rich to the not-so-rich is so very rich.

He cannot be allowed to tell everyone what is wrong with their policies while failing to acknowledge the disaster that has been and is trickle down economics.
I don't have to explain to anyone why I watch or don't watch programs whether I love or hate the persons who anchor them. That said JoeScum is a two faced hypocrite and empirical evidence shows that trickle down economics is an abysmal failure - a scam to steal from everyone and give it to the rich; a scam to deny citizens the social good. Indeed it destroys society and turns everything into a for profit market place.

Reagan was a cult too, created by Fundamentalism and leftover goons from the 1940s.
Am I better off than in 1980? No. A little Reagan was fine, like 2 years. That would have been enough. He wasn't up to it mentally, not the USSR, not the war on terrorists, not domestic policy, not aids and women and lgbtq's or whatever they were called back then.
Reagan was pushed on us by money and power. Dems were asleep by 1980. Parties in power a long time are like that.
