https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-australia-57225103After they murdered so many of thier Cat population,
They get mice galore. and Bast's revenge.
As it happened in the middle ages, after all the crazy christians back then murdered tons of black and other Cats they got a mouse plague and black death.
The Egyptians knew Cats should not be murdered. If you killed a cat in ancient Egypt you would be killed.
Because mouse plagues.
And Cats are sacred too.
I hope the Farmers in Australia recover and they stop poisoning millions of Cats.

(17,195 posts)I see plenty of them but they are mostly peaceful and shy in this part of Oz. There's a nice black snake living at the end of the next street - he doesn't bother anyone.
The Western Browns in Queensland - they're another thing. They'll come after you.

(11,686 posts)they should have done ( should do ) capture spay/neuter and release. cat over population fixed and rodent problem fixed. From programs I have been watching our country is learning how to do that. You would think that people would look at history and see the mass killing of cats has done more harm than good. Then again, the mass killing of any creature is more harmful than good. every type of animal has a purpose.

(58,724 posts)The Down Under folks seem to have a history or importing animals that run wild and destroy their habitat.
They brought the rabbits, they brought the cats, what next?
canetoad
(17,195 posts)But HISTORY is the operative word. The importation of animals/fish/insects/reptiles/amphibians happened in the distant past. Sure - we've paid the price in the past but today's laws would not allow it.
Tell this to Johnny Depp and his missus; while many were cooing over a pair of impossibly cute Yorkies, we have arguably the strictest quarantine conditions in the world and a corresponding LACK of many serious animal diseases ie rabies.

(26,647 posts)Perhaps they should try a more humane approach, but they don't belong there.

(12,480 posts)Of invasive species.
You can't kill them to return to the days before humans came to Australia.
Eventually they will have to realize things change and it's part of evolution now, these changes.
Yeah people contributed to the changes. The changes could have happened another way too.
With different species.
No place remains untouched forever.
