Authorities are hunting for a clueless tourist who came within feet of a massive grizzly bear just to snag a souvenir photo in Yellowstone National Park.
The intense viral footage shot earlier this month by another tourist in a parking lot at Roaring Mountain inside the Wyoming park shows an unidentified woman holding her phone as she stands close to the female grizzly.
The grizzly charges at the woman, appearing ready to pounce, before turning away. Nearby witnesses were left breathless after the frightening encounter, video shows.
Oh my God, oh my God, one startled woman said. Holy f-ck!
I got that on video! another shocked witness said.
National Park Service rangers want to identify the woman as part of an investigation into the May 10 incident for disregarding rules to stay at least 100 yards away from bears, Yellowstone Park officials said this week.

But, I guess Park needs to go after her for appearances.

(86,323 posts)go after as many offenders as possible and fine their asses and administer other consequences. The lack of respect for the wildlife is astonishing and needs to be addressed. The safety precautions for the park are issued at the entrance and there are many opportunities to learn about these things if they ere interested in them.

(86,323 posts)off the certain features. You can never tell when a bear is going to show up, or a bison for that matter. People are stupid and if you don't give them places to pull over and look, they'll get out of their vehicle in the middle of the road with the doors open to go look at a coyote, meanwhile a thousand other people are trapped and half of them will get out to look too. In. the. middle. of. the. road.
Seriously, I had to move away to get away from asshole tourist invasion that never quits anymore. Now I fear I may have to leave the region.

(86,323 posts)Since I stopped working for gov't agencies, but it's getting pretty bad outside the park as well. I guess I didn't get far enough away. I used to love that place, studied for years to be able to work and live there and I was run off by maga types.
