Could ending the filibuster be the means to end democracy as well?

Suppose the House and Senate are both predominantly republican and we know the USSC is not in our favor for the time being.

Couldn't the republican Congress/Senate make voter suppression federal to all 50 states and U.S. territories? Rewrite the Constitution, etc., knowing their USSC will cover them?

I guess the best argument is that if we don't do it, the Republicans will the next time around.

when the two parties would work together to come to consensus. It is no longer that way and is being used to prevent governing, because of the feckless gop senators will follow their leader no matter what. Your system was set up for majority rule with veto power for the president. It needs to go back to that.

That’s when slave states begin to exploit the Senate rules, to thwart anti-slavery legislation.

It is an undemocratic rule.

process and has always been used to thwart the majority. We need to get rid of it while we have the majority; with gerrymandering, voter suppression, election interference/“rigging”, the inequity of 2 Senators per State regardless of massive population differences, and the electoral college, and GOP bent in throttling democracy, it’s conceivable we may never have the majority again. We need to mak the most of it now if we really want to save our democracy,

Like it or not, that's what a democracy is intended to do. You may not like the legislation but I would rather have a majority passing legislation than a minority effectively block legislation.

Democracy under the current US constitution is a sham. The Senate is simply representing States, not people. Over and over we have to remind everyone including ourselves that People from small (in population) states have, in some cases 35 times the power than people from large states. (See Wyoming (about 1 million) vs. California (about 35 million): each send 2 senators to Washington...NOT A DEMOCRACY!)

Now go read the history about how the states, after the original 13, were established. Who controlled that?

If over half the states senators agree something should be passed, it should.

And hopefully you have read up on the clusterfuck that would happen if we have a unicameral legislature. The current system recognizes the federalist nature of our government and that it isn't just a group of people in a country but a federation of states. States as entities need to have a say.

Too many Democrats simply do not understand that Republicans want power for the raw exercise thereof. They still think that they're in some kind of Aaron Sorkin TV show where sound, logical arguments win the day.

Republicans have over some states by either gerrymandering or by getting 2 Senators and having a small population. The majority of the citizens side with the Dems, but even if a Democrat wins a majority of the votes they don't win the election sometimes. They could make changes to the filibuster like making it a true filibuster. Of course we'd then be subjected to the whole Dr. Seuss catalog read aloud.

It’s a tough call. We need that Voting Rights Bill. But my thought all along it’s a doubled edged sword.

Hard to know how exactly to proceed, we are in a precarious situation concerning our Democracy for the first time in my life. Traitors like pervert Matt Gaetz and Michael Flynn siding with Trump and his January 6 Right Wing Insurrectionests.
