(10,132 posts)TV shows people eating cows, chickens, and fish regularly, especially in commercials. Or is it that those are more processed, so people forget that their hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and fish filets were once living animals?
(If they're like grasshoppers, cicadas do need some preparation. But unless they've been doused with insecticides there's nothing harmful about eating them, says the person who willingly ate grasshoppers at a Oaxacan restaurant)

(15,758 posts)Your example is so off the wall. Nor have I witnessed anybody eating the head off a chicken. Ok never a fish after catching it and take a bite from it. Seems silly by now, huh???

(33,643 posts)I'm sure some of them would be unhealthy for us to eat but frankly I doubt you'd ever think of eating most of them ... roaches, wasps and spiders come to mind.
That said ... I don't want to eat any of them.

Large arthropods and mollusks ruled this world after the Cambrian explosion, when our distant chordate ancestors like Pikaia were surely hiding most of the time.

Edit:
Lol, I just watched the video in this thread and it was cut off after he asked what it reminded her of.
The guy mentioned arthropods after her reply, so that might've thrown me off if she indeed said clam.
