While I can understand that, the agitation for a coup is real and ongoing. Certainly there are those active duty generals who would support such a coup.

My understanding is that personnel with 20 years of service "retire" into a recallable reserve status until 30 years of service or age 60 and are still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice during that time.

Flynn is both over 60 years of age and had more than 30 years of service when he retired, and as such is not subject to the UCMJ.

There are multiple posts on DU today, some of them by individuals within the Military Justice system, stating explicitly that what I recommend is a viable option.
