I don't think she's interested in ending the filibuster - raising the minimum wage - protecting voting rights or anything else progressive.

(1,309 posts)Both sides in Arizona hate her now; if someone started a recall, I'm sure it would pass.

(1,309 posts)In 1988 the governor, Evan Mecham, was recalled.
Just recently, paperwork was filed to recall the current governor, Doug Ducey; but, as can be imagined, COVID got in the way of collecting signatures, so the effort was dropped.
Ballotpedia has this great list of recent recall campaigns. It seems as if every year there's at least a half-dozen politicians facing a recall. Here's the list:

(457 posts)but they all seem to be state elected officials. Does their recall law also apply to federal elected officials?

(1,309 posts)(there was even a movement to recall McCain after his cancer diagnosis), but whether it could actually happen is unknown, as a senator has never been recalled before (from any state). One NJ case went as far the the NJ Supreme Court, which ruled that federal officials can't be subject to a recall.
Of course, the AZ Supreme Court might rule differently. But if that were to happen, the U.S. Supreme Court would almost assuredly get involved, and who knows then? The NJ Supreme Court precedent certainly wouldn't help matters though.

(1,309 posts)Arizona is purple with a tinge of blue now. We have two (albeit one is in name only, but we didn't know that when we voted for her) Democratic senators, and the state went for Biden (OK, not by a huge margin, but a win's a win).
The state is changing. I feel confident enough that a Democrat would replace Sinema if she were recalled that I'd be willing to carry around recall petitions myself.

Then Sinema put on a show of her own. She enthusiastically stood to applaud Trump on "opportunity zones or tax breaks for certain developments in poor areas. Its fine, appropriate and necessary to work across the aisle on specific programs.
Sinema may think she displayed bipartisanship. Instead, she appeared to be cheering a president who just minutes before had refused to shake Pelosis hand, a president shell have to convict or acquit over abuse of power and contempt of Congress. A president who constantly lies, attacks nonwhites and anyone who doesnt agree with him.
The first-term senator could have gotten the attention she sought without the pompous standing ovations. But thats not her. Shes that self-absorbed senator Arizonans elected and who's turning out to be exasperating.
