Edit:
Apologies. I often tend to drop the I. As in: wonder who will fill this seat.. Which of course should be I wonder who will fill this seat..
I did not realise this until I saw a post down thread.

(11,771 posts)During work this week, I asked both men I care for, if they heard the latest about this race. Both said, No, and both said they didn't know who either women were. None of the people close to me know anything about these women either. The common remark was, 'As long as they aren't a republican.' Exception being, my one clients who is a republican said, 'Who gives a shit?'. I live in a household of three dem voting women, I'm the only one who know who these women are. I know I couldn't find 20 random people on the street who know who they are. Yet here on DU? It's life or death. Reality v internet politics. The average Joe on the street, nope. They don't care. They care about gas prices, food cost, the fires in our area, and the weather. I didn't spend time today searching about which politicians said something that might piss me off. I spent time trying to find outside concerts to take my sister to; if the county fair is on; if the Shakespeare festival is on; if Britt festival has it's schedule up yet. Went to work. Paid bills. Sent money to ACLU. Checked in with DU. Will make dinner soon. Whoever wins that race will be 1,000 x's better than any republican, that's all I care about.
Have a lovely evening. It's beautiful here in southern OR tonight... high was 102, but this evening is lovely. My kitties are all about the snuggles- doesn't get better than that.

question everything
(47,522 posts)Just like the squad..
We have to remember that moderates took the house in 2018. We lost seats in 2020 because so many voters were apprehensive about what appeared to be a left tilt of the party and the prominence given to Sanders, who is not even a Democrat.
Yes, many here want to shift to the left, but good luck in keeping the house with such shifts, especially when historically the party that is in the White House loses seats in the mid term elections.
Many here are happy with what appears to be a left shift by Biden, but he first had to be elected. Neither Sanders, nor Warren, not even Harris would have won had they been the nominees.
If the Democratic party will lose the moderate votes, it will lose any control. We will not always have Trump to repel moderate voters.
But then, again, as we have seen in 1968 and in 2016, too many Democrats chose to stay home or, worse, vote for Jill Stein and for Trump then support the nominee.
