Florida governor's race: Crist raises $1.3M in first month
Democrat Charlie Crists gubernatorial campaign raised $1.3 million in its first month, a quick seven-figure haul that comes just as the Democratic gubernatorial primary heats up.
Crist, who has served in Congress since 2017, is a former Republican governor of Florida and known as a formidable fundraiser. He will likely have an early advantage in name recognition and fundraising prowess over top primary foe, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, who is Floridas only statewide elected Democrat but took her first elected office in 2018.

As a Floridian and recovering Crist hater, I think he is probably our best shot. You can count the times I've said something positive about Crist on one hand. That is going to change. He is now on a run of a couple of years when he has been more than acceptable as a progressive. Might I even say consistent.
It's going to take a lot to move me away from the Crist train. I'm onboard. He has deep connections in this state and our state party is seriously hurting. Crist has been thoroughly vetted and is ready to go.
