Do you think Joe Scarborough is correct about this matter?

He has been repeatedly insisting that though Joe Manchin is that front man and taking all the heat for it, there are other Democrats that are unwilling to change the filibuster to eliminate or even change the filibuster. Sinema counts as another one, but she's been up front about so he's implying there is even more quiet opposition to the idea than is generally thought.

Joe has been a Republican all his life and, despite his hatred of Trump, he remains one. He regularly slips in rightie talking points into his annoying rants.

Joe/Mika partied with Trump.. they knew he was a depraved animal but they hated Hillary with a raw passion so they cleaned up their orange buddy and sold him as a viable candidate, someone who would “grow into the office” .. but when their malignant creation turned on them they reinvented themselves as never trumpers…now that Biden is in the White House Joe/Willie are free spew their right wing garbage

that seemingly reflexive slant to their positions is a pretty common trait. John Bolton is really bad about it, IMO. He seems like he can't stop himself from sliding digs against the democratic party any chance (and he IS annoying, IMO).

... and he should know. There are Democrats that side with Joe M, but don't say it out loud.

I think it's also true that the bill should focus on Trumpy Republicans gaining the power to reverse election certifications. This is the insurrection continuing... they are not done. They saw 1/6 as a positive step, and they are continuing...

... much has bee said about "hidden" Republicans who detest Crooked Donald, but don't say it out loud. There are also Republicans that fully support these power grabs, but don't say it out loud.

vote.

But in reality eliminating the filibuster is a false debate. Removing the filibuster on Voting Rights alone, would be sufficient at least for this Congress. And if Democrats don't do that, it will be at least a decade if not more, where you will have minority rule in the US. Fair elections and fair voting should not be a matter for debate, and if the Democrats can't push even that through, they will deserve every piece of shit coming to them for the next decade.

and will wish that we could call a filibuster.

biy in 2021 the only sure thing is that the repubs will never let a filibuster stop them again. if we don't repeal the filibuster rules they certainly will, first chance they can.

There are other Dems (or who caucus with Dems) who don't want to get rid of the filibuster.

I wonder, though, if these senators would agree to instituting a real filibuster instead. Make the Rs talk.

No reading the NYTimes unless it is relevant to the legislation being proposed.

I also think we have to lean into voter ID as a compromise. That but greatly expanded poll dates and hours. There should be no long lines on election day.

There are some who simply want to maintain whatever personal power they have both when their party is in the majority AND the minority. And it's not a completely terrible idea. BUT..... at this point we have seen what partisan gridlock looks like. It means that JACK SHIT gets done for people. I think we have to do whatever we can to implement things that the American People actually support. Show them that there is a difference. I think the Both Siders just eat this shit up. And they are not 100% wrong. What is the use of having the majority is we can't DO anything with it? I appreciate that having even a slim majority CAN make a difference. It already has. But it will be a hard sell next year if we can't do anything else. Right now we've managed to put our finger in the dike. But we need to make some actual PROGRESS.
