Cheney: Trump inciting January 6 riot 'the most dangerous thing' a president has doneAxis File, with David Axelrod : CNN

CNN) Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney accused former President Donald Trump of having committed the worst violation of a president's oath of office by inciting the January 6 Capitol insurrection -- and taking a jab at House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy over his subsequent visit to Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
"I was stunned. I could not imagine any justification for doing that," Cheney said of McCarthy's visit to Trump during an episode of David Axelrod's "The Axe Files" podcast, which was taped Saturday afternoon as part of a University of Chicago alumni weekend event. "And I asked him why he had done it, and he said, well, he had just been in the neighborhood, essentially."
House Republicans ousted Cheney from her leadership position last month over her public rejection of Trump's lie that he won the election -- an ouster that McCarthy supported. Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has repeatedly clashed with McCarthy, who has tried to align himself with Trump, and subsequently the Republican base, going into the 2022 midterms.

(38,726 posts)It will be very ugly, but because of the truth of what Liz says, she may win...or....
divide the party permanently:............ "Trumpers vs Non Trumpers"......
and that will insure us a 2022 win!!

(9,143 posts)...in my opinion. I would hold off on being thankful. I am convinced that the GOP as we know/knew it will continue to morph into something worse than what it is or ever has been.

(38,337 posts)Real take-downs of the Trumpists, like they did to Rockefeller Republicans back in the 70s and 80s.
None of them have shown they have the stomach for a real fight. They all rode to success on a cushion of what we're now calling "Trumpists". They only know how to fight Democrats.

(7,733 posts)She is giving never-T***p Republicans a handle to hold onto on the GOP life raft. Her position in the Party and life gives her safe passage until the stench of T***p is safely gone or at least at a distance.
At this point, I think her ouster from leadership is going as planned to keep GOP voters engaged while there is a lull until 2022 elections. MTG is holding the crazies in so they wont get distracted by how good Joe Biden is doing.

That clown car has run into the ditch and that is where it needs to stay.
The media has a role to play here so why are they not stepping up? Why are they cowering in the corner playing the both sides game?

(55,833 posts)unless the radicals are excised. Rep. Cheney will have to adjust her loyalties to get this done. Tacitly supporting voter suppression while railing against the former guy does not help the cause of Constitutional government. It's a time-shift strategy. I think she's as toast as Trump.
